The Jubilant Black Coats
Some of the clippings on TV showed lawyers dancing rather immaturely bhangra style on Asma’s winning the Bar’s election. Somehow the spectacle presented a sight least behoving an educated class who when pitched against the ordinary assert to be from the profession of great leaders like Quiad. Would Quaid or Iqbal hop,bop and bound in streets throwing away their stature and grace expected of it to the winds? My dear lawyers, you are supposed to be the embodiment of decorum personified in and out of the courts. A distinguished looking gathering of properly dressed lawyers with properly knotted black neckties seated in a hall paying compliments to the elected lady with an occasional dignified clapping would have enhanced the image and the stature of the black coats further rather than behaving like the tangewala Jialas
