Fasting makes you super human not only spiritually but physically too.

It is amazing to note how the Almighty has prescribed the seemingly "harmful" rituals such as fasting for our own benefit. First and foremost the benefit is for our souls, it allows us to get closer to Allah... it makes us aware of Him as our master and lord. Every time we feel the urge to eat and drink but we resist for the sake of Allah, we gain taqwa. This is the key to success in the hereafter. Secondly as the following film from BBC Horizon shows it is extremely beneficial for the body despite all those fears that hunger and thirst can harm us. Having faith and reliance on our creator who knows best about us, can only bring benefits for us from all directions. We should feel proud of your religion and thankful for this guidance that is a profound favour from the Lord of the Worlds for His slaves.
