Chair APL Amjad Malik raises community concerns with Pakistani high ups during his visit to Pakistan
(27 March) Chairman APL Amjad Malik visited Pakistan from 18 to 24 March where he visited LHCB and met President and other dignitaries of Lahore High Court Bar Association, Supreme Court Bar Association and called on Chief Justice Lahore High Court Punjab on 18 March 2010. He discussed matters of mutual interest. Chair APL presented Lincolns inn sign to Chief Justice Lahore High court in this meeting.
On 19 March, he called on Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad shehbaz Sharif where student case was discussed and he appealed to CM Punjab to assist those students who are fighting for justice. CM Punjab directed Ahsan Iqbal for speedy interest and assistance. Mr. Malik thanked the CM Punjab for taking stern action against ‘land mafia groups’ and complaints and appreciated for his action in Sahil’s case as well as in the case of 81 years British citizen’s assault allegations and the rape of Bibi case which were raised with the CM Punjab by APL and directions were issued for speedy investigation. Mr. Malik praised CM Punjab’s drive for good governance and  ‘Danish’ school projects which will be a source of intellect revolution in middle classes.
During his private visit to his home town Faisalabad he met APL coordinator Ijaz Ahmed wahla Advocate and discussed the situation arising out of a lawyer slapping a civil judge in open court. Both condemned such action and vowed to raise this issue at the highest.
Before returning Amjad Malik held a 3 hour session with students Abdul Wahab Khan, Shoaib khan and Tariq Ur Rehman and briefed them about their case and progress. All 3 students showed confidence on the way proceedings are being handled and requested Amjad Malik to meet Chief Justice , Prime Minister and Interior Minister to raise their case. As a result, Mr. Malik has officially written to Pakistan Govt. to assist the students and make their position clear in this case.
On 23 March Amjad Malik held a special meeting with Dr Rehman Malik and raised the issue of Pakistani students visa problems in particular the case of 10 Pak students arrested during 8 April ‘operation pathway’. He raised the issue of Machine Readable passport facility at Manchester and Interior Minister promised to address the issues raised at the meeting. Amjad Malik thanked the interior Minister for his keen interest in overseas Pakistani’s problems.
