A threat from Tehreek-e-Taliban with a 48 hour deadline is received by the authorities that if any of the Taliban prisoners is hanged they would retaliate forcefully by killing everyone in public places and bomb the schools. As quite a few of their prisoners are to be executed, Pakistan has been placed on Red Alert. Click here to read Full Article

Some of our politicians have suggested award of Nishan e Haider to the Shuhada of the APS Peshawar. They seemingly do not know that an NH is a purely military award and unfortunately cannot be awarded to the brave civilian valiants. However, no gallantry award in the world would measure up to the highly commendable heroic deeds of the very young braves of the APS Peshawar and their equally dar Click here to read Full Article

I travelled by my car from Lahore to Islamabad on M-2 Sunday the 11th January 2015. I left Lahore around 11 a.m. and it was quite foggy there. The weather mostly remained so till Bhera allowing varying degrees of visibility ranging between 100 to 300 meters all along. I was naturally being careful and kept my speed low rarely touching 100 KMs per hour at the most. I kept to the left lane when driv Click here to read Full Article

SCHOOLS SECURITY by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Government is doing a laudable job in not issuing the NOC to the schools to reopen until they took appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of the children. However, the parents are quite apprehensive that all such expenses spent by the schools on security measures shall be passed on to them. Governments – Federal as well as the Provincial – are, therefore, requested to come to Click here to read Full Article

Ever since the APS Peshawar horrendous incident of December 16th, almost all schools have been closed and various measures are being discussed and planned to ensure the security and safety of the children. Apparently, the emphasis looks to be on preventing a terrorist from entering a school premises and for that measures like raising of the perimeter walls, armed manning of the gates and various s Click here to read Full Article

Posted By: Riaz On: 1/Jan/2015 Views:204 Replies:0
It was October 19th, 1941 that the Quaid in his Eid message gave the motto Unity Faith & Discipline to the nation yet to be born. Its Urdu rendition was Ittehad, Yaqeen, Nazm. Immediately after the creation of Pakistan this Unity Faith & Discipline adorned the most prominent places like govt. buildings, offices, official stationery, postage stamps, ramparts of the forts, hill side slopes – set in Click here to read Full Article

Could someone please tell me what happened to the parliament’s lifting of the sanctions on Youtube.com quite some time back? What’s stopping implementation of the parliament’s orders in this regard? I don’t know about others but I am being denied a wealth of a scientific and other literary knowledge of all kinds by keeping Youtube off the air. Click here to read Full Article

Are Our Elections Realistic? by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 21/Nov/2014 Views:212 Replies:0
Sometime back President Musharraf had created a furore when he counter-questioned the Fox News TV interviewer as to what was more important – the constitution of Pakistan or the Pakistan? The ‘lovers’ of the constitution duly aided by the media nearly tore him apart. However, no sooner did this controversy subside, a wave of tumultuous fervour for the elections took the nation by the stride. But w Click here to read Full Article

Justice (Retd) Rana Bhagwandas is reported to have declined to become the CEC because the Election Commission, according to him, is not autonomous and independent. Well done, Sir, and I salute you for your courage of conviction. Your such act is still more laudable as you were the only consensual candidate acceptabl Click here to read Full Article
Selection of Chief Election Commissioner by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

One fails to understand as to why must be the CEC be proposed by one or the other political party as anyone proposing someone would certainly have an interest in him and what could that interest be except to favour his party in the elections. And how would the CEC favour them unless he does something unethical?! So, the very idea of selecting the CEC by the political parties is fraught with and s Click here to read Full Article
