The Ban Boon by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)

I don’t know about others but if anything at least I am happy by the “extreme vetting” proscribed for the Pakistanis entering USA. It is mostly the younger and promising lot who heads for the States either in pursuit of higher education or better employment. Both categories rarely return to the motherland thus causing a huge brain drain at the national level. Imposition of a ban on a country can Click here to read Full Article

Hunt for Governor by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Why is it taking the govt. such long in appointing a governor for Sindh? Is there some sort of haggling or negotiations going on between the political parties in picking up one who should be acceptable to them all? Why do they want him to be their man? Do they expect him to favour them even if they are wrong? Why can’t the President appoint someone who is firm, fair, competent, honest, just and p Click here to read Full Article
Stent Scandal by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)

The recent stents’ scandal in the Punjab hospitals reminds me of my nephew who about 4 years ago underwent a heart surgery in a renowned private hospital of Peshawar and was charged about a lac and a half per stent for the three stents inserted in his arteries. He was also given a DVD (Digital Video Disk) of the whole operation as per the normal practice. Sometimes later he happened to be in the Click here to read Full Article

Pa Na Ma by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Can someone help me please? I’m fed up of seeing some of the king’s cronies and other jokers perpetually occupying the idiot box whenever I switch it on. These more-loyal-than-the-king critters look so pathetic while trying helplessly to defend in vain something so obviously wrong. Do they or does anyone else has any doubts in their mind about the London flats not belonging to the Sharifs or n Click here to read Full Article
Gas and Gas Stations by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

I don’t know about others but we here in the Westridge area of Rawalpindi Cantonment have felt much relief in the supply of the gas to our houses since the Punjab Govt. has placed some restrictions on the use of gas by the CNG stations. There are three CNG stations in our vicinity and when they operate they seem to suck away all the gas from our houses and the gas pressure dro Click here to read Full Article

Real Democracy by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Real Democracy The PPP and PPP-P have set a real good example for all to follow by holding their intra party elections. It’s another matter that no one offered to stand against the father and the son. But could they be blamed for it? Click here to read Full Article
Modi Water War by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 13/Dec/2016 Views:1174 Replies:0
In a public address at Bathinda East Punjab India the Indian PM Modi has threatened to render Pakistan barren by stopping the waters of the three rivers flowing to it through India. Whether it is his just a vote fetching gimmicking berate for the ensuing elections there or the scepter of his innate RSS “Hate-Pakistan” is raising its dirty head once again after his vow of isolating Pakistan from th Click here to read Full Article

Indian Submarine by Col.Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Yet another act of belligerence by India and not an ordinary one too! An Indian submarine was detected in Pakistan waters but how close was it to our shores is not disclosed. Our only source of information to this Indian venture is media, which is not very explicit about it. A media report says that it was not allowed to enter Pakistan waters. Another reports it to have been pushed away out of Click here to read Full Article
Noon Meenar at Gwadar: by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)
Posted By: Riaz On: 13/Dec/2016 Views:1090 Replies:0
It was during the period of Prime Minister Malik Feroze Khan Noon that Pakistan purchased the Gwadar enclave from the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman for USD $3 million – a huge amount from the reckoning then and Gwadar formally became part of Pakistan on 8 December 1958 – ironically the day Martial Law was imposed - after 174 years of Omani rule. It took PM Noon more than six months of hard negoti Click here to read Full Article

Donald Trump by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

There is a lot of disquiet and consternation around the world including the US about the Donald Trump becoming the most powerful man on this planet. As a strong believer in fate and destiny I view it as an act of Providence and feel sorry for the Americans. Allah promises in the holy book two things in this regard. One. “We appoint the same kind of rulers on a people that they themselves are alik Click here to read Full Article
Enough is Enough by Col. Riaz Jafri (Retd)

Now that India has herself brought the Kashmir issue under international focus by stupidly claiming to have carried out surgical strikes against us, which has appropriately alarmed the world powers of its escalation into a fully fledged war between the two nuclear neighbouring states, Pakistan should make the most of this opportunity to its full advantage and to the advantage of our Kashmiri breth Click here to read Full Article
