Dehumanizing tragedies
According to a news item, Aunty Shamim who faced worse humiliation at the hands of Lal Masjid students, felt sorry for the tragic end of Jama Hafza story because the government dehumanized it.
Those who opted for an untimely commando action against the Lal Masjid cleric should have thought that tyrant like Saddam Hussein got public sympathies when he was seen humiliated on TV. They should have known that human tragedies bring out the best among people. Irrespective of what the late Ghazi Rashid was doing; the Lal Masjid tragedy has made him a hero. Can anybody forget the innocent face of that little girl sitting by his side when he was interviewed? Can one imagine the fear going through her innocent mind and ones alike her when they saw bombs exploding around them? It was a tragedy of immense proportion by any standard. As a result of that tragedy and its poor presentation by the government, the Islamic history will count Ghazi Rashid among the legends.
