Swearing in AGP

At times one has to perform even the unpleasant task in the call of duty. So had the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to swallow his pride the other day when  he was made to administer the oath of office of the Auditor General of Pakistan to Mr. Akhter Buland Rana , probably against his best judgement and wishes.  Only two days before the CJP had written to the President about the alleged aspersions on the character and antecedents of Mr. Akhter Buland Rana and had asked  him to reconsider his decision in appointing him as the AGP.  It was no surprise to those who know when the president considered him (Rana Sahib) otherwise and as innocent as a child. The swearing in oath must be resting heavily on the conscience of the CJP for having done something he considered improper.  But, Your Honour, such are the dictates of the service – like it or not.
