Legalising the Illegal
The parliament has passed the “Validation Bill 2012” giving constitutional cover to acts, orders and other instruments done, made or issued by the previous Prime Minister Mr. Yousaf Raza Gilani during the period April 2012 to June 2012. Such a blanket cover to the acts of the previous PM is something not understood by me. Any bonafide act of the PM in accordance with the constitution does not need any such cover. And any act in conflict with the constitution or done with a malafide intent would fall under the purview of its being illegal. Should the parliament legalise the illegal by giving such ex-post facto sanctions?
