ROs Discretion
Ch. Nisar’s and General Musharraf’s nomination papers were reportedly rejected by some ROs at Rawalpindi and Karachi but were strangely found acceptable by the other ROs at other places allowing them to contest from those constituencies in the coming general elections. It is strange! Were their papers rejected on some solid grounds or just at the discretion of the concerned ROs? If one RO found something objectionable to reject the papers, how could the other RO overlook the same or not consider it objectionable? To my mind, if the nomination papers of a contestant are rejected by an RO anywhere, he/she must stand disqualified from all other constituencies as well. Would the ECP kindly look into it and give its ruling?
