Ghilaf e Ka’ba
Believe it or not an ad with the picture has appeared on page-4, centre extreme right column in today’s Jang offering two pieces of Ghalaf e Ka’ba, made with about 4 kilos of gold for sale. The asking price (hadiya) is Rs. 4 crores! The ad reads that the pieces are being sold due to an urgent need for money.
The question arises, can such highly revered relics be sold publicly and that too for making a profit? I am sure that the present owner of the pieces didn’t buy them and if at all, not for Rs. 4 crores!! Secondly, what would the new buyer do with the pieces if they cannot pull their present owner out of his misery that he is forced to sell them? And, lastly, will the buyer – who would naturally be a filthy rich – get all his sins, if there are any, expiated by possessing the pieces of the holy shroud?
