Sick but Still Going Strong
It is quite heartening to see Mr. Munir A Malik – the Attorney General of Pakistan – going strong and undertaking arduous task of attending the Supreme Courts of Pakistan fully prepared every other day. Sometimes back he was reported to be on dialysis and would not present himself before the authorities when required.
Similarly, it is indeed very comforting to see our president Mr. A A Zardari to have completed his tenure of full five years without much problem though only a few weeks before his assuming the office he was in and out of 5 star hospital every second day during his long incarceration of eleven years !
And, what heart ailment did Mr. Ghous Ali Shah suffer from that kept him out of the country for most of the time of Musharraf’s rule? Happily, He looks alright and full of vigour, though MNS is not making use of his talent and energies for reasons best known to him.
I think it is the most convenient way of beating the law by going sick for our politicians and other men of influence and they can stay away from the courts as long as they wish as are Messrs Hussain Haqqani and Shamsul Hassan Wajid - our ex envoys to USA and UK and a lesser mortal but equally astute and moneyed Taji Khokhar are doing.
I don’t know why is Musharraf not falling ill? I suppose his military training has apart from making him robust also implanted some self respect against brazen cheating.
