Chairman NAB
The important post of the Chairman NAB has been lying vacant for the past four months since 28 May 2013 when the Supreme Court ruled that Admiral Bukhari’s selection was in violation of the constitution. For all practical purposes the functioning of the NAB has come to a standstill because as per the law, NAB cannot take decisions on any pending cases unless the chairman signs off on them. There have been a number of meetings between the PM and the Leader of the Opposition to agree upon someone name of the proposed Chairman NAB but of no avail. Each side looks to have the next Chairman of its choice rather than someone of impeccable character and resolute. Unfortunately, the bureau is investigating several high-profile cases, including charges against former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on suspicion of receiving kickbacks in power projects, Gilanis in ephedrine case and three accusations of graft against the PM Nawaz Sharif himself, but in spite of that do they ex pect the Chairman NAB to oblige one side or the other instead of dealing with the cases HONESTLY, FAIRLY and JUDICIOUSLY? One wonders that DO they REALLY want the Chairman NAB to be partisan and not fair and act according to his conscience?!!
For the sake of Pakistan and its coming generations I pray, not.
