Independence Day or Birthday

       (A food for thought)

Dear Sir:

I received lots of Greetings for The Independence Day for

which I am grateful to the senders.

However, as far as Pakistan becoming Independent is concerned, I have a little different view of it.

To my mind Pakistan (mind you Pakistan) was never a slave country or ever ruled over by  ANY foreign power and granted independence by it.  It was a country BORN free and CREATED with a new name and identity.  It was India that was ruled over by the British and given independence on the night of 14/15 August 1947. Pakistan just took its birth on that night as a free country and nation.  Independence for Pakistan gives the impression of it's being a slave country at some stage which it never was.

We should, therefore, celebrate Pakistan's Birth Day and not its Independence Day.
