Transparency in Govt. Dealings

Every time a wazeer or a musheer announces a new government project, be it a road or a bridge, power dam or windmills, brick lining of the canals or safe drinking water, import of wheat, palm oil or sugar, polio vaccination or malaria eradication, new university or revision of the text books my heart misses a beat.  Oh, my God, there goes a billion in someone's account abroad.  Though the development projects are simply inescapable for a country to progress, yet not all the funds allocated for a project are utilized on it. So, what to do?  Let's be honest "“ for a change - and admit that we remain honest as long as we do not get a chance to be otherwise. Everyone of us has a price, whether in coin or kind, and though it varies from individual to individual but the price is there. As such, the only way to lessen the scourge is to make our government dealings as transparent as possible. Almost every government department  has computers these days. It should, therefore, be not very difficult to introduce e-governance through internet in them. Some of them have already their websites and are working through the internet, but their working is limited to the placing of the RFQs and RFPs only on their websites. No information about the bids received or their processing, award of the contracts and the progress of work upon them etc. is placed on them, which if done will make the processing transparent to all. Armed with the relevant information the contestants will be more vigilant and safeguard their legitimate interest. Most foreign countries including US military, the UNO and many other international organisations operate in such a transparent and above the board manner. Imagine the amount of progress the country will make if ALL the money is spent on the projects instead of most of it pocketed away by the looters
