Fall of Dacca and surrender of about 90,000 Pakistan Army men is the worst and the most shameful even in Islamic History. How did it happen, why did it happen, who were responsible, Blunders and crimes of omission and commission and much more for soul searching. Half of our beloved Pakistan was separated and the portions, which voted most heavily and play the most pivotal part in our independence was cut and separated. We can't blame India. India is supposed to cause disintegration of Pakistan. The fault lies with us. Our people, army and other institutions!
The wise and active people learn the lessons and take corrective actions. I have read its summary, conclusion and recommendations and some portions of it. I have reached the following conclusion from the report of this high powered commission the following:
1) Behind every evil was the weakness of Our Iman in Allah Ta'lah and Hereafter
2) There was sever lack of Islamic teaching and connection with Allah Ta'lah through Quran and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH)
3) Due to the above two factors we developed utter weakness, lost courage and developed greed for land and other things
4) Merit was slashed in all spheres. Wrong people were promoted and the Chiefs usually used their powers to bypass the systems
5) With such Idiots as Ghulam Ahmed, Iskandar MirzaAyoub Khan Yahya Khan, Moosa Khan etc. etc. we could not hope any better. Our Generals leaders were not only incompetent, lazy but also full of lusts and greed. Wealth, woman and Wine (WWW) played key role. Merit and Justice were massacred so the history massacred them. Just have a look of the following lands owned by some of the Generals (Ref. Hamoodur Rehman Commission Report)
a. Gen. Yahya Khan held 396 acres of land
b. Gen Abdul Hameed held 1,361 acres
c. Gen. Khuda Dad Khan held 622 acres
In order to buy and keep the loyalties, heavy bribe in the form of posts, lands and army welfare fund abuses were all utilized.
In addition to rampant corruption, there was utmost lack of commitment, planning and training etc.
It is highly recommended t hat the Hamoordur Rehman Report be made part of our Matriculation curriculum and all armed forces and Civilian courses.
As he media is the largest university of the country, it is only befitting that they discuss the Hamoodur Rehman Report; its findings and recommendations. Let us do our painful Ehteesab and bring true and healthy reforms in all aspects of our lives. It is a MUST read for anyone who cares about Pakistan and Islam. However I would recommend that if you can afford it buy its hard copy, keep at home, read it, cry and do something which you can for this beloved country to which we owe so much.
