Wasim Akram advertising a soft drink

It is customary for a diabetic celebrity not to advertise a soft drink with sugar as its main ingredient. Watching a 20/20 cricket match the other night, Wasim Akram was seen advertising a well-known brand of such soft drink. What made the diabetic great cricketer promote the drink is beyond advertising logic. Would the diabetic society of Pakistan say something about it?
