Notice to Musharraf
As reported in a section of the press the Attorney General Mr. Khosa interjected and the Chief Justice added word ‘Retired’ after General in the notice he was dictating to be served to General Musharraf. As the courts’ orders and notices, especially of the apex court, must be meticulous in all respects, I would respectfully draw their attention to the correct way of writing the name of the retired army officers. It starts with the last Rank held, followed by his full name and the word Retired written in the last in parenthesis. For example; General Syed Pervez Musharraf (Retd). This can be verified from the GHQ (AG’s Branch) or from the internet for the name of the retired army officer of any army of the world. However, while addressing in person a retired army officer only his/her rank is used and ‘Ret’ is dropped.
