Ministers and Courts
Sunday NEWS carried two stories prominently one on the front page and the other on its back page about two federal ministers appearance in the lower courts. Whereas the Interior minister Malik Rehman responding to the ordinary summons of the court appeared before it promptly and that too without any protocol or security in spite of the many life threats that he has received. But the most honourable minister for Water & Power Raja Asharaf Pervez Sahib did not. Consequently the court had to issue Warrants for his Arrest to be produced before the court. I think it is the second or third time that the court is issuing such warrants for his arrest The minister is not only defying the court and judiciary but it is also amazing as to how he is alluding the police. Or, the police are not doing their job. Or, does he still think that what to talk o f a federal minister, even the third cousin of the brother-in-law of the PA to the minister cannot be arrested by the police. My very sincere request to the court is not to make the mockery of the judiciary by issuing such warrants that cannot be implemented and resign helplessly to the inevitable and wait till the gentleman is out of the powerful office, which incidentally he should have been as he had assured the nation so many times to resign by the end of December if he could not do way with the load shedding.
