Sydney Debacle
The great gurus of the game are perplexed as to what happened to the team that was all set to win the 2nd Test against Australia. Most blame Akmal for the four dropped catches behind the wickets. Others accuse the batsmen for their poor performance while praising the bowlers. Some talk of the need for the team to come out of the 20/20 mindset. A few citing an earlier similar fiasco against Sri Lanka blame the dandies for throwing away the wicket in sheer overconfidence. However, I think one doesn’t have to be a space scientist to figure out the reason for it. It was, believe it or not, a simple match fixing. Just imagine the billions at stake when the odds were so heavy against Australia and the amount of betting that would have taken place on the 4th day of the match.? What are a few dropped catches or carelessly thrown aw ay wickets between the friends?.
