Association of Pakistani Lawyers a team of Pakistani origin lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, Judges in UK jointly have taken a serious note of the frivolous statement of Foreign fire brand leaders of a civil political party inviting military rule in Punjab and or in the mainstream Pakistan, and has termed it unacceptable in any form or shape.
APL has condemned these unlawful, ultra constitutional invitations and declared it a conspiracy against civil rule and declared it a ‘mind set’ against the very basis on which Pakistan was built by Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and a renowned Barrister of Lincolns Inn.
APL chair Barrister Amjad Malik said that ,”Military rule will wipe out debt ridden Pakistan’s chances to ever stand on its feet in community of nations with pride. Pakistan’s progress is hidden in strengthening ‘one man one vote rule’, democracy, rule of law, justice and free media, not in martial laws. Soon the political classes commit not to repeat the incidents like 12th May and people of Karachi and Pakistan are allowed to cast their votes with their free will without fear or fervor, the better it will be for democracy and the country.
Having said that, APL observed that,” there is a dire need in Pakistan to re-establish control over corruption ridden institutions which can be achieved without implementing unlawful actions remaining in civil form of the Govt. If the robust and reliable system is introduced by parliament which enforces strict law of the land on corruption, it will generate less complaints if a few thousand guilty corrupt are held to an account by a court of law as a starter. It will not only act as a deterrent but will send a strong message to the corrupt elements in the society”.
APL is of the view that matters of political nature must be resolved through political dialogue and consensus without the need of a unilateral operation(s) or without blackmail, however, no compromise must be made on the law and order situation in the city which is deteriorating and law must deal with all in equal terms on the issue of de-weaponisation.
