APL termed PM visit to UK a futile exercise,
Amjad Malik Chair APL

Association of Pakistani Lawyers (UK) a team of British Pakistani Solicitors, Barristers and judges has taken a serious note of Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s UK visit post his conviction & sentence and termed it a futile exercise.

APL chair Barrister Amjad Malik took an exception and said, “Prime Minister must pack his bags and go home, unless judgment is stayed on appeal by Superior Courts his all actions, decisions, agreements and directives lack legal sanctity and may be classed ultra vires, and he may be personally liable for expenses of his tour in the absence of legal cover. PM must save himself and the nation from international embarrassment and feel pity on the masses who are law abiding in general.”

In response to the detailed judgment, APL chair commented that its an Excellent decision, Right, just and proportionate in the climate. PM can appeal But on legal grounds and if order is not stayed he is no longer has the moral authority to hold his chair. He will be sane if resigns, and If he does not, Then State business will run on convicted criminal under appeal, and it should not prolong longer like that as sanctity of his decisions will be questionable making Pakistani criminal justice system, courts and it's orders a laughing stock in Pakistan and outside.

“From sepoy to the top no one will give respect to the judges & their judgments if the Chief Executive continues to lock horns with the judiciary & does not surrender to the rule of law concept. Western press will use Gilani’s obstinacy and will criticize the state depicting  its luscious rulers who has no concern for their national interest but hold their self interest supreme all along, and loss will be of the state, “said Mr. Malik
