Does Pakistan need a written constitution?

According to a news item written constitution is not vital to development of a country. It gave example of Canada, United Kingdom, Israel and New Zealand where there is no written constitution but are far ahead in development. In these countries fundamental rules of government are drawn from customs, traditions and precedents.

Does Pakistan need a written constitution which has been repeatedly violated in the last six decades by its three pillars-judiciary, executive and legislative? Such violations left the public in spiralling poverty that led to exploding hate, frustrating despondency, religious fundamentalism, state terrorism and accelerating anarchy. The big question is does Islam permit a written constitution?
