APL Supports the top judiciary of Pakistan, Barrister Amjad Malik, Chair APL
LONDON, January 31, 2013 - The Association of Pakistani Lawyers (APL), a team of Pakistani origin lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, and Judges in UK has in an emergency session noted with great concerns the developments in Pakistan and the news reports of possible attempts to undermine superior judiciary of Pakistan through executive and/or Presidential actions. APL condemns such actions & mindset and fully supports the top judiciary of Pakistan in order to safeguard the civil system.
APL affirmed strongly that British Pakistani lawyers urge restraint and demand the Government of Pakistan to fully abide by the Constitution and to refrain from scandalising, undermining or disobeying the judiciary as adherence to the rule of law will enable Pakistan to progress as the country cannot afford another constitutional crisis or misadventure.
APL jointly has conveyed a message that as lawyers across the globe did not sit still on the unlawful dismissal of the Honourable Chief justice of Pakistan on 9 March 2007 and or on the imposition of emergency on 3 November 2007, similarly we will support the robust judiciary at every cost in the days to come.
APL has invited the Government that the key to resolve the political unrest in the country is hidden in the announcement of the fresh poll date and appointing an independent caretakers with consensus following the norms written in the constitution Art 18-20 of the Const.1973.
“Fresh mandate is better choice available than locking horns which will not be a service at all to Pakistan, its people and or democracy, said Mr. Malik,
