Dear Dr. Abdul  Quadeer Sahib,

I hope all is well with you. I had sent you some of my books a few months ago. It was very kind of you to call me and acknowledge the receipt. I regularly read your columns and am inspired. Your column of today published in daily The Jang on Sufism portrays the very essence and  verity of the subject. I endorse your views. We need purification of soul and for that the selfless services of saints are a beacon of light in the dark and dreary regions of life. I have always rejected the pseudo mystics and promoted the sacred cause of true saints. They are found in all religions. I negate asceticism, monasticism and papacy. But we must adhere to the spirit of religion and that is to be a good and noble human.
In my book titled " The Message of Islam" published in New York in 2009, contains a chapter captioned " Islamic Concept of Mysticism."  I am forwarding you my fresh article on Sufism. The traditional Sufism needs reformation, rejuvenation and reconstruction. The great Muslim Sufis were the men of knowledge and piety. They were the men of character and guided the people towards right path. But, unfortunately now we have the majority thugs and imposters in the garb of Sufis. We have to seek and find the men of piety. We can not negate the existence of true saints. They are always there and are guiding the deserted sheep like Jesus Christ. The holy Quran and the traditions of the holy prophet testify the existence of true saints. We must abandon the fraud and forgery staged by the sham Sufis and promote the moral, humane and spiritual culture. The concept of Sajjada Nasheen( hereditary descendants and custodians of the shrines)) is a form malpractice and has no recommendation and permission in Islam. They are the beneficiaries of the graves and swindle the simple followers in the name of spiritualism. These are spiritual shops not spiritual centers. They sell faith by giving amulets and deceive the fools. The son of a philosopher is not supposed to be philosopher. The son of a poet is not necessary to be a poet. Similarly, the son of a saint is not expected to be a saint. The prevalent monastic order is un -Islamic. I  believe in the respect of shrines as they represent the glory of God through his pious men. We respect Kaabah( House of Allah) and Hajr-e-Aswad( The Black Stone) for their ascription to God. According to the Quran it is necessary to respect " Shairullah."
With best regards,
Dr. Maqsood Jafri
