It looks like, the wise judiciary saved the unwise government from constitutional crises by taking a pre-emptive step on presumptive action allegedly suggested by the legal gurus around the President. The PM should open his eyes and realise that being the constitutional chief executive after the 18th amendment, it would have been his neck on the block, as the action would have been a treasonable

Many years ago, a friend of mine told me a true story narrated to him by his elders, which permanently printed in my memory. He said, during the heydays of the British Raj, a Lot Sahib wanted to kiss his wife on the veranda of his bungalow. She pushed him away pointing at the presence of nearby servants. Lot Sahib laughed and pointed his finger at a dog, a few cows and chickens in the foreground,

Gen (Rtd) Musharaf can be bracketed with those world leaders who lose self control when tipsy; but he is far off the line beyond which the other real leaders stand. If he keeps on uttering loose talks through his bad mouthing, spitting at his political rivals, and sending alarming messages about the father of Pak nuclear program and Kashmir cause,

The illusory highway leading to Constitution Avenue is jam-packed with vehicles painted with; NRO, NAB; Corruption; 18th Amendment; Petitions; Law & Order; Target Killings; Floods; Terrorism; Poor governance; Change of government; Mistrust among allies etc. Free media is filling up each vehicle with gas according to their rating points. According to a news item, the principle secretary to the President, Mr. Salman Farooqui, has left for America for medical treatment. Like his boss, he is one of the beneficiaries of NRO. Is it a coincidence that he left the country on a well-known excuse of health, just a day after the PM had asked the beneficiaries to quit their jobs fulfilling the instructions of the SC? The way things are devel

Recently, Muammar Gaddafi stated that “There are signs that Allah will grant victory to Islam in Europe without sword, without gun, without conquest. We don’t need terrorists, we don’t need homicide bombers. The 50 plus million Muslims (in Europe) will turn it into the Muslim Continent within a few decades.” Irrespective of his summersaults in global politics, he could be right this time. The pict

Some might like Rehman Malik for his style of governance but majority don’t. Like a Western Cowboy, he shoots from his side first and thinks about it later. In his latest action, he banned five Baluchi militant groups which were not even registered and without taking the democratic set-up of Baluchistan in confidence he, repeating the action of his predecessor Gen Musharaf, has transferred police
