After seeing the aggressive public response supporting the decision of Southwark Crown Court against the corrupt cricketers will have a political fallout in the public court of Pakistan when corruption cases are brought against the corrupt politicians. This is the beginning of a big change which was aptly projected recently by the public in Lahore.

The death of OBL added another scepticism about the man whose whole life spiralled around sceptic stories. Someone rightly said 'all information about bin Laden should be treated with a healthy dose of scepticism'. Even President Obama gave it a sceptic touch when he used the term 'remains' instead of 'body' in his news breaking announcement when he said 'the military took custody of his remains'.

According to a news report, the chair of the PM at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) buckled under his weight creating an embarrassing situation for all. The management should have known that Yusaf Raza Gilani does not weigh what he used to before he took the coveted post. Masha'Allah, as prime minister he has put on a lot of weight; thanks to the 'high calories support' he

Army has played two important roles in the history of Pakistan; a unified disciplined force; and a strong politicised unit. America accepted both roles from early 1950s. Within a few years, the army created a strong liaison with its American counterpart and the political elite based on its professional capabilities. The politicians, on other hand, did not build such a bond and the relationship

According to Tony Blair, as reported in press, Pakistan is paying a heavy price for mistakes of 1970s when it developed religious schools which became the source of extremism. I don't know which history books Mr. Blair has been reading but the facts on the ground were different. The fact is that the religious schools mushroomed in 1980s with active support of UK and US. Pakistan is paying a price

The fire lit by Zulfiqar Mirza's fiery press conference engulfed MOM primarily. His father, Judge Mirza, once described him as unpredictable and perfunctory. His comments came when ZM failed to attend a dinner hosted by Dr Fahmida Mirza for my wife and I in 1995. The honourable judge was my patient then. The perfunctory approach of ZM put the MQM on the back foot and for ten days the party maintai

Only the close relatives of Shahbaz Taseer can feel the intense pain they are going through. The rest can sympathise with them. The son of slain Salman Taseer was accosted by gunmen in broad daylight in busy Gulberg area of Lahore. According to reports, the culprits opened the door of his car, dragged him out, dumped him in their vehicle and drove away. This is the Pakistan of today, where childre

Ch Nisar and Javed Hashmi are like two sides of one coin-the coin being PML-N. Both are sincere to the party and its leadership, but by nature they are poles apart. I have known both of them closely and can say with confidence that I can write a book on each. Who knows, one day I might even. But today, without touching on their private lives, I will try to highlight factors effecting their persona
