Zardari is elevated and equated to mighty Bush!

All the countries on the very face of earth, irrespective of their territorial limits, topographical situation, natural resources and or economic prosperity are headed by a head of state who is commonly known either as President or Amir, or King or Queen or Chancellor etc but yet President of United States of America is singled out to be the most strongest and omni powerful person on the face of it and it is of no consequence whether we like it or not, the fact remains that one way or the other, the US President is always at top of the ladder.

Shoe hurling is of course an insulting activity and can not and should not be appreciated by any one including myself whatsoever unless and until it is viewed from a different perspective as I am trying to portray in the subsequent lines. I, being a Pakistani like any he or she, though living overseas since 1976, felt ashamed and knocked down to read that some one from amongst around 1,000 crowds hurled his both shoes towards our President Asif Ali Zardari at the time when he was at the full pitch of his speech addressing in Birmingham those British who are originally Pakistanis. It is immaterial to probe whether both the shoes had been thrown at the same time or one after another and, for that matter, it is of no cognizance to establish whether right thrown first was followed by left one or vice, the fact remains that it is sign of indignation and disrepute from each and every angle whatsoever.

The news is that Pakistan High Commission, UK had been assigned the job to screen and pre screen each and every individual before issuing an invitation to attend the function which is to be addressed by President of Pakistan. The 1,000 were purely picked up on the strength that they are loyal to PPP and not otherwise meaning by that those who had agitated or likely to agitate were chopped off the list hence only blue-eyed were invited to grace the occasion. Now the most baffling and intriguing question is as to why and how such a gruff, ill-natured and uncivilized person could be selected amongst 1000s as an honorable invitee? Who recommended and wetted him must be taken to task and it should not be taken so casually so that it can be avoided in future? All those who had claimed and boasted of fool pool poof arrangements are hiding their nose in the ground and how to face their superiors in particular and others in general.

The British police and other different intelligence services present right inside the International Convention Center where the function was being held, hurriedly pounced upon the shoe thrower and whisked him away from the scene so that neither the speaker nor the audience could know of such an unfortunate event but alas it did not go unnoticed and almost each one of those present at the function could smell something fishy. Few could see the shoes flying from their ranks towards the President though none of the two shoes could even hit the visitor yet our worthy VVIP abruptly stopped his speech and left the scene under high security arrangements. The shoe thrower is nothing but a British citizen who dared to throw shoes at none less than President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In all fairness it can be penned with full conviction and authority that the date it was announced that President Asif is going on the said Europe trip, people from all walks of life within the country and outside the country had agitated and registered their protest against the merry-making tip and instead voiced that Asif should stay back in Pakistan since the whole country is undated with unprecedented high floods resulting in deaths of hundred men, women and children.  The television networks showed the devastating and the havoc floods have played in all the provinces of Pakistan but Asif did not bother a bit and instead proudly announced to go ahead with the trip which he claimed is in the greater interest of the country and not otherwise. Some one from the presidential court age had cheeks to announce that Asif is meeting all the expenses from his own pocket and not from the national exchequer, which is very much doubted but even if it is true, I will dare to say that this money should have been spent on those marooned ones who once lived within four walls but now they are roofless and residing under the sky.

Reverting back to the caption itself, one must be awed, amazed and puzzled as to how could East be equal to West and till this point I am with you and not against you but not beyond this point otherwise the very purpose of my writing the article is defeated.  Historically speaking, it was 14th December, 2008 when George Bush, the mighty President of the United States of America was humiliated by one Iaqi named Muntader Al Zeidi when he hurled his both shoes towards Bush who was delivering a speech at a press conference in Iraqi Prime Minister Nui Al Maliki’s office. The shoes could not reach the target but yet it proved to the whole world that he is hated in Iraq. Now the gentleman in Birmingham has just done the same with our President Asif Ali Zardai hence he elevates Zardari from the lowest rung to the highest rung.

As per International Monetary Fund (IMF) rating of the year 2009, USA is ranked 6th amongst all counties of the world with per capita income of US $ 46,381/ whereas Pakistan stands out at its serial number 132 showing US $ 2,661/ per income.

At least the shoe-throwing incident has inflated and elevated us from rung 132 to rung 6 which is not a joke in any a case, if we coolly and judiciously analyze rather than punching in air. Please do let me enlighten me as to how and when you can also quote an instance to equate our president with that of USA.
