State terrorism of Zardari mafia - Vagabonds are striking on media offices like Cobra Snake.

By: International Professor

Zardari like wounded serpent is striking on media and behaving similar to Cobra having limitless toxic and its outstanding custom to keep attacking on enemy ruthlessly. Hundred of armed terrorists under supervision of Minister of Interior Sind Zulfiqar Mirza have been directed to burn newspapers and threat journalists. Media offices are under siege and workers are under threat of losing their jobs. ARY, Geo, the daily Jang and daily The News have been stopped working since last six days since those media groups have reported Shoe throwing incidence occured at Birmingham, UK.

People’s party has a history of fascism and its leaders were hanged or kicked out from power corridors due to their autocratic behavior many times. Media is always their target and particularly enmity against Jang group is very old. So called democratic leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto openly threatened Mir Khalil ur Rahman by name for the dire consequences during his rule. Majority of opposition weeklies and dailies faced his wrath and bear financial loses, writers were imprisoned and declarations were cancelled. Zindagi and Takbeer type weeklies remained on hot beds throughout his tenure. During two terms of Benazir she pilfered money as much she could do but still media remained under threat. Today Zardari’s palaces at France, UK, USA, Spain, Abu Dhabi and Switzerland are witness that she devotedly helped Zardari in corruption.

Curb on media by Zardari has different story, he wants to close any voice that could talk about his corruption, fraud and mockery. An organized mafia is around him to safe guard his crimes visible on TV channels with arrogant tones.

Zardari pissed off High Court of Sindh and Punjab orders

Pakistan media is under threat of state terrorism and hostage of vagabonds in employment under Benazir support program, the major terrorist organization “Bradran e Benzir” consists of 40,000 armed and trained vigilantes are being used to harass media concerns. Lawless Pakistan is running under different war lords, and nobody cares about courts and their orders. Sindh High Courts and Punjab High Courts ordered to Government for restoration of TV channels immediately but Zardari, Gailani and Kiyani mafia pissed of court’s orders.

View point of Zardari mafia:

Almost all players of Zardari mafia is openly saying on record that media is not allowed to criticize about corruption of Zardari mafia. It shows temperament of Pakistan Government and a clear cut proof of fraudulent democracy and deceptive constitution of Pakistan.

The yellow journalists on pay role of Zardari Mafia are playing misleading role and trying to propagate in favor of renowned thugs and criminals. For example what Najam Sethi is saying about curb on media? He says

Quote: “By indulging in a vicious campaign of vilification and defamation against the democratic institutions, certain elected leaders and the citizens; a section of media was not doing any service to the profession the statement said.” unquote. (This is same person known for his radical views based on sectarianism and pro-Iranian thoughts)

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010\08\13\story_13-8-2010_pg7_32

Another editor of daily Dawn himself joined the vigilantes and would surely be involved in vandalism and he is the most radical, sectarian and recognised hate preacher, he writes:

Quote: “Looking at media people gathered at the Karachi Press Club and rightfully protesting against the attacks a large media group has been facing by those incensed by its coverage of Zardari’s trip (Shoe throwing) was a heartening sight. I too was part of that protest rally.”

He further wrote: one must also ask exactly how democratic and wise were the following acts that the same media group (Jang Group) has been embroiled in?
Its anchor (Hamid Mir) was accused by the son of a slain former ISI man who was kidnapped by a group of extremists and allegedly killed on the suggestion of the anchor (Hamid Mir)?
How wise and democratic was the way one of its former talk-show hosts – (Dr. Shahid Masood) with an obsessive habit of making outlandish predictions about the downfall of the current government – ridiculed the Sindhi folk culture on the occasion of the Sindh government’s ‘Sindhi cap day’ early last year?
Briefly put it goes something like this: Sensationalising (on air) an event that sees a man throwing a shoe at the president is freedom of expression; but getting the same treatment from those incensed by the nature of reporting that the event got on your channel is an attack on this freedom?

(Note: All apologists of Zardari mafia are repeating above phrases to justify vandalism by goons of Peoples Party and State Terrorism by Zardari-Gaillani mafia. Paracha type peoples are mentally slaves of 70’s Bhutto era and worked as guards of feudal lords at that time for making money. His statement shows that he does not believe on journalism, role of media in providing info to public and he himself is involved in preaching hate from the daily Dawn, there are hundred such events on record.)

He further wrote: Same way, suggesting that the president’s tour of Britain amounted to him ignoring the floods but forgetting about the floods yourself at the wake of the shoe-throwing incident was OK? The channel did begin to obsess about the ‘issue’ like an excited group of high school pranksters. ‘What floods, where? Get me that shoe story, now!’
within our community of crusading, pen-pushing do-gooders can be found a number of characters who are as lecherous, fraudulent and arrogant as those individuals each one of us loves to bring down for being corrupt and deceiving.” unquote. (Probably last three lines he wrote by watching his own character in mirror).
http://blog.dawn.com/2010/08/12/raging-bull/

Above are pieces of two so called journalists known for preaching hate, and surprisingly major national press is taking a Hippocratic approach as well by not even reporting vandalism of terrorists and not siding with media brethren in hard times on principals. Whereas ARY and Jang Group have almost 60% activists of Peoples Party on their pay role including major anchors, reporters and columnists as well.

To analyze role of media being so called fourth pillar of the state, in present circumstances it looks like myth. It was great mistake of media to stop providing true information to public under self created censorship. Here weakness of media due to vested interests of some owners made lion to Zardari type thugs, and that is what I am pointing out since long. Journalism is name of true reporting of events by not caring interests of anyone.

All of above situation clearly shows that there is only one pillar of state and that is Pakistan army, and media or judiciary has no role to play. Extension of Kiyani was meant to oblige single pillar of state and practical outcomes are clearly showing anarchic in the society.

Supreme Courts of Pakistan has declared vagabondism of Zardari as his “Criminal” acts.

Blocking channels’ transmission criminal: CJ, Friday, 13 Aug, 2010

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Friday said that blocking the transmission of television channels was criminal. "What are law enforcement officials doing?" he remarked.

Justice Iftikhar made these remarks during a hearing of a petition challenging restrictions against television channels. "How does a cable operator decide whether to block a particular transmission?" he said.

"We must go to the core of the matter...why is the law not being implemented? How does the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) regulate cable operators? Why has the Pemra not taken any serious action in this regard?" he said.

Moreover, the Supreme Court ordered Chairman Pemra and Secretary Information to ensure the transmission of the television channels by 12:30 on Friday. — DawnNews.

We express disapproval of state terrorism by Zardari mafia against media:

Restricting media is most heinous crime and burning newspapers and harassment to journalists is worst type of vagabondism. All international journalists’ organizations have condemned the role of Zardari mafia. Thugs of peoples Party require simple kick now.

We condemn all those forces that are behind closure of ARY and Geo media channels and distribution of Daily Jang and the Daily News. Zardari’s action against media is clear state terrorism and Supreme Court’s must single out and punish culprits behind the scene.

Pak’s Geo News blocked over reports of shoe hurling at Zardari

Karachi: The transmission of Karachi-based Geo News was blocked overnight in various parts of Pakistan after the channel aired reports regarding hurling of shoes at President Asif Ali Zardari during his party address in Birmingham.

According to reports, some Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders and government officials had issued threats and warnings to cable operators across country against continuation of Geo News transmission.

Most cable operators refused to do so, but two private companies- World Call and KMPC - blocked Geo News signals at around 2 am.

Meanwhile, Geo News employees have decided to stage a massive string of demonstrations against the government in reaction against the blockage.

The protests will be held outside the President House, the Prime Minister House, Oman embassy in Islamabad, Chief Minister’s house, Governor Houses and the Press Clubs across the country.

An unidentified middle-aged man had reportedly hurled his pair of shoes one after another at Zardari during the event at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

The shoes missed Zardari and landed close to him.

The shoe-thrower, who has not been identified so far, was arrested and rushed outside the hall by security personnel, but was released later.

Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira had denied any such incident taking place during the rally, and reprimanded the media for airing such a report.

“If someone tried to create disturbance while sitting in back of the hall, it was not visible and the news should be condemned rather than airing it as ‘breaking news’ or portraying it as ‘big news’,” Kaira said.

Kaira said that no television cameras were allowed inside the convention centre for security reasons.

IFJ urges govt to restore Geo, other channels

LONDON: International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has urged Pakistan’s Government to immediately restore broadcasts by Geo News and other private TV channels, after the news channels’ reports were blocked following the airing of news about a protester throwing shoes at Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari.

The cable television channels were blocked on August 8, sparking protests across the country. Both channels remained off air on August 9

The bans are affecting news coverage and information regarding the country’s relief effort to deal with widespread disaster caused by massive flooding.

“The IFJ reminds President Zardari of the promises he made upon taking office that he would uphold and defend freedom of the press and information in Pakistan,” IFJ General Secretary Aidan White said.

“It is essential that at such an acutely sensitive time for Pakistan that its Government and leaders promote full transparency and resist resorting to the censoring tactics employed by military regimes of the past.”

The IFJ is further concerned that pressures on television operators potentially threaten the jobs of hundreds of journalists and media workers in the broadcast sector.

Aside from the broadcast blocks, offices of Geo and other channels’ cable operators in Karachi were reportedly set ablaze by activists of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), according to local news reports.

Copies of the Geo-associated Jang and The News newspapers were stolen from vendors and burned. Threats were issued that delivery vans would be burned.

Geo’s website reported that some PPP leaders and government officials had warned cable operators across the country to cease transmission of Geo, but most refused to do so.

The incident in which shoes were hurled occurred as Zardari led a PPP rally in Birmingham on August 7 during a visit to the United Kingdom. Zardari’s European visit is reportedly stirring anger among the Pakistani community abroad and at home as the country contends with the continuing floods emergency.

Nationwide protests against the broadcast ban are under way, including a rally today led by the Karachi Union of Journalists, an affiliate of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).

In March 2008, then President Elect Zardari told an IFJ delegation that his new government would not have a hostile relationship with media, as had occurred under the regime of former President Pervez Musharraf.

However, in March 2009, Zardari ordered a ban on telecasts by Geo and one other TV channel in regard to coverage of protesting lawyers and opposition party opinions. The move prompted the resignation of then Information Minister Sherry Rehman.

In a separate incident involving Geo on August 7, two unidentified gunmen fired at a news team in Hyderabad, according to a PFUJ statement.

Geo’s reporter Anwar Kamal and his driver Nasim Ahmed were hurt in the attack on their car near Thandi Sarak. The pair continued driving to a hospital, and are reported to be recovering from their injuries.

Kamal believed he was attacked because of his journalistic activities, according to the PFUJ.

Geo TV blocked after airing shoe-throwing at Zardari in UK

by AZHAR MASOOD (Courtesy: ARAB NEWS)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s popular Geo News channel was blocked overnight in various parts of the country after it aired news regarding hurling of shoe at President Asif Ali Zardari during his party address in Birmingham.

Minutes after the story of the shoe-throwing at Zardari was aired authorities in all main cities blocked GEO TV and on Sunday morning set ablaze offices of GEO, Jang and The News dailies.
Newspaper hawkers were robbed of bundles of newspapers at gunpoint. Sindh police confiscated bundles of Jang and The News in Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkar and some other towns.
Shoe-thrower Shamim Khan was arrested by Birmingham police but was later freed without any charges.

He told media after his release: “When Pakistan is drowned by floods Zardari is spending millions of pounds at the cost of Pakistani taxpayers.

“His meeting with British Prime Minister David Cameron earned national disgrace to Pakistan. I was determined to beat Zardari with my shoes.” While Zardari and his team could do nothing in the UK their vengeance was transferred to Pakistan’s leading newspaper house.
President’s spokesman initially denied the incident but later simply said, “I did not see any unpleasant incident.”

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira too denied the incident of shoe throwing but later changing his statement said: “We will hold an inquiry.”

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalist condemned official acts and termed them “yet another attempt to strangulate freedom of press.”

Pakistani media targeted over Zardari 'shoe attack' reports

A TV channel's broadcast was blocked and copies of at least two newspapers were burnt in different parts of Pakistan after they reported a ''shoe attack'' on President Asif Ali Zardari during an address in Birmingham, the channel said Sunday.

Offices of many cable operators in Karachi have been set ablaze by activists of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for transmiting Geo News, the channel said.
PPP leaders and government officials issued warnings to cable operators against the continuation of the Geo News transmission.

Newspaper vendors have been robbed of copies of Jang and The News dailies on the directions of Zardari and Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira from London, Geo TV said.

A man reportedly hurled shoes at Zardari during a PPP address in Birmingham after he refused to cancel his visit to Britain in the wake of devastating floods in Pakistan that have claimed over 1,500 lives and rendered thousands homeless.

People have protested against the PPP violence across the country, Geo News said.
Geo News staff and their supporters are now planning to protest against the attacks.
Demonstrations will be held outside the President House, the Prime Minister House, Governor Houses, Press Clubs and offices of cable operators across the country.
Geo News staff and Pakistani journalists held a meeting Sunday to discuss the further course of action.

Geo and Jang Group are being penalized for revealing facts and speaking the truth, it said. The ruling elite is angry for reporting president's controversial visit to Britain in the face of the country's worst floods, it added.

Shoes and Shouts Mark End of Zardari's UK Visit

Instead of cheers; Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari was greeted with shoes and shouts of 'Mr ten per cent' during a rally of the Pakistan People's Party at Birmingham.

However, Zardari's aides insisted that no such incident had occurred during his visit to Britain.

Geo News channel and newspapers of the Jang media group reported that a 60-year-old man named Shamim Khan threw shoes at Zardari yesterday in protest against the President's meeting with British Premier David Cameron.

Cameron had triggered a storm in Pakistan by saying that Pakistan had links with groups that promoted export of terror to Afghanistan and India.

But, the shoes failed to hit Zardari and the protester was escorted out of the venue, where the President was addressing a Pakistan People's Party (PPP) convention, by security guards, the reports said. British security took away Khan, who shouted slogans, The News daily reported.

Khan told Geo News that he threw the shoes in protest against Zardari's meeting with Cameron.

Compelled by prospects of renewed fury back home if Bilawal Bhutto's political career was launched in Birmingham amidst unprecedented floods, the plan was dropped even though placards at the Birmingham venue sought to welcome 21-year-old Bilawal.

Outside the venue, protesters shouted slogans held placards stating 'Save Pakistan, Oust Zardari'.

Bilawal, who sought to rubbish reports that he would address the Birmingham rally, confined himself to London where he launched a flood relief donation centre at the Pakistan high commission.

PPP activist Khadeer Arif, who was one of a number of people who walked out in protest at the Birmingham rally, said there was simply no need for the President to visit Britain while there are people dying back home.

He told BBC: "You wouldn't see Barack Obama leaving America, you wouldn't see at the time of 7/7 Tony Blair wandering around Europe.

The reality is simple; he was here for his family needs, not for the people of Pakistan."

Zardari told the audience: "You are my family", as the gathering prayed collectively for the late Benazir Bhutto.

People had traveled from nearby areas to see Zardari, and many returned satisfied.

Shaquil Usman, who attended the rally, said: "The vast majority of the people were satisfied.

There was a lot of controversy about his visit, because of the floods, but by him coming here today I think all these people will contribute towards the floods.

I think is the ultimate aim of everybody is to try and get as much money raised for the floods as possible."

International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell defended Zardari's visit which he said had served to highlight the disaster and help raise international relief funds.

He said: "He is drumming up support internationally for the huge relief effort that is going to be required now in Pakistan and is going to be returning very soon. I think he is right to continue that visit."

A media report also quoted Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira as saying that an investigation will be conducted to determine how and why the man was invited to the gathering for which special invitation cards had been selectively issued by the Pakistan High Commission in London.

The incident inside the hall coincided with a protest outside the venue, where hundreds of flag-waving protesters carried banners and shouted slogans against Zardari's visit to Britain.

The President has been criticised for traveling abroad at a time when Pakistan has been hit by the worst floods in 80 years that have affected over 12 million people.

Zardari's speech at the convention was only covered by state-run PTV, which did not beam any footage showing anyone throwing shoes at the President.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar too denied the incident, saying it would have been seen by the people sitting in the hall if it had occurred.

"I confirm through the media that no such incident occurred during the speech of President Asif Ali Zardari," he said.

The media could have openly reported the matter if it had any proof about it, Babar said.

Asked about the Information Minister's statement on the incident, Babar said the minister has already clarified and "he should not be misquoted".

The President completed his speech in 45 minutes and it was "vigorously hailed by the PPP workers sitting in the hall," Babar said.

The Jang group also claimed that Geo News channel was blocked out in parts of the country for airing the news of the man "hurling shoes" at the President.

It also claimed that the group's English and Urdu newspapers were stolen by unidentified persons early this morning and burnt.

According to the media here, Zardari is the second world leader to face a 'shoe attack' in Britain after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

In February last year, a student at Britain's prestigious Cambridge University had thrown a shoe at Wen.

On December 14, 2008, an Iraqi journalist hurled shoes at then US President George W Bush in Baghdad.

Geo News once again shut down in Sindh areas

KARACHI: The telecast of Geo News has once again been shut down in most areas of Karachi following hooligans’ attacks at the offices of the cable operators, threats and cutting down the cables, Geo News reported Saturday.
Various cities including Larkana, Dadu, Nawabshah and Badin cannot watch Geo News throughout the cities; while, telecasts in are partially suspended in Hyderabad and Thatta.

It should be mentioned here that Geo News telecasts were restored on the order by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry after five-day closure of the telecasts.
However, rogue elements cut down the cables in various areas of the city. Besides giving threats, a large cable operator’s office was vandalized and thus, Geo News telecasts were made to go offline.

Cable Operators Association President Khalid Arain told at least 12 hooligans arrived at his office at Mashriq Center and went on the rampage and bullied him. Later on, an FIR was registered at New Town Police Station with him as plaintiff.

He told the the Geo News telecasts once again had to be choked off as a result of their threats. Now, the telecasts are not being watched in Liaquatabad, Soldier Bazaar, Tariq Road, Mehmoodabad and New Karachi.

According to Khalid, he also wrote a letter to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for providing him security, he also asked Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) for the security, adding the telecasts would be restored as and when the security is provided.

Meantime, Chairman Pemra said the government is not involved in the attack on cable operators; instead, it is rogue elements to blame.
Talking to Geo News while visiting the office of cable operator at Mashriq Center, Mushtaq said it is scoundrels who are to blame for Geo News closure and government is not involved in this episode.

Chairman Pemra said he directed the early restoration of Geo News telecasts and will call on Sindh Chief Secretary and CCPO Karachi for the security of the cable operators.

Geo News back; SC calls cable operators on Aug 17

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) ordered Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to bear down on the cable operators involved in closure of channels, Geo News reported Friday.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry held it an offence to stem the telecast of Geo News and other channels by force and termed it terrorism to attack on cable-operators with petrol bombs.

He was heading a two-member bench hearing two identical petitions against the closure of Geo News and ARY.

The petitioners’ counsel Akram Sheikh said in initial arguments that the incident that occurred in Birmingham was reported in the international media as well as in Pakistani media.
The CJ said everyone has right to be abreast of flood devastations.

Prior to interval of Friday prayer, the federal secretaries of Information and Interior and chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) appeared before the court.

The CJ Chaudhry scolded Chairman Pemra Mushtaq Chaudhry, saying why the licenses of cable operators involved in closing down the telecast, were not cancelled, addressing him, ‘You are violating the Constitution and neglecting your duty.’
He directed the Chairman to restore the telecast of banned channels by 12:30pm today; or, face days behinds bars.

During the hearing after the interval, the CJ said the Pemra guarantees the rights of the consumers; and millions of consumers are important for the court.
Attorney General said it is not the government to blame; instead, miscreant elements are involved in the closure of Geo News.

Reacting to this, Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday noted whether the hooligan elements are so powerful that the entire government apparatus is helpless vis-e-vis them.

Secretary Information admitted in the court that closure of channels sullied the name of Pakistan across the globe.

The court directed the Pemra chief to give personal attention on keeping the telecast of Geo News and ARY restored and take action against cable operators stemming the telecast of news channels.

The court, calling the cable operators to appear on the next hearing, adjourned the hearing till on August 17.

Geo News back in some areas after SC order

ISLAMABAD: The telecast of Geo News has started to come on line after Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry ordered the same while hearing petitions against the closure of Geo News and other news channels, Geo News reported Friday.

Geo News was penalized for broadcasting a news story involving Zardari’s shoe-hurling incident and eventually the people were kept deprived of any access to the information for six days.

A SC’s two-judge bench comprising Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday and headed by Chief Justice Chaudhry, heard the two identical petitions against the closure of Geo News and other news channels.

The CJ warned if law and order situation breaks down in the country, then its ramifications will go far beyond.

He added cable operators in Patoki would not be held for violating Article-19 and 19-A; instead, the concerned federal secretary would be nabbed.

The Chief Justice elicited written assurance from Pemra chief, saying, ‘If the channels are not restored back on wire, then you would be put behind bars.

After this warning from the higher judiciary, Geo News began to be on air in some areas; however, its telecasts are still not being shown in many places.
