Safest zone, which and where?

There are some specific terms and expressions which are not only very commonly used and applied but also understood by each and every individual in almost each country on the face of the earth and such internationally accepted rule applies to Pakistan as well at least in theory if not practice.

Who, other than me, also does not know what is ‘safest zone’ or ‘high security area’ or ‘red zone?’ My goodness, the highly sensitive and so called tightly protected area has been attacked last night in Karachi killing odd 17 persons. Just few days back only we saw lot of high profile meetings in Karachi in connection with law and order situation of the metropolitan city and very strong messages and highly adjective laden statements were issued by none but our top brass telling the people that they should not worry at all. We are very much in control. People were told that there are those people within the society even living next door to you who are falsely spreading rumors about security situation. The innocent residents of the metropolitan who over the years have become used to target killing again blindly believed the airy fair assurances issued by none but top notches of PPP for whom the same people have voted for. I think the new message is not only for Karachi residents but for the whole country residents that they should now be prepared to live with bombing and not otherwise.

Alas! If the safest zone is not safe then hardly any other place is safe in my beloved country which I left as back as 1976 and will eventually one day return to the land of pure. I’m sorry for issuing such a nonsensical statement because there is still one place very much safe though officially we do not label it as the safest. Graveyard is the safest place and thanks Allah, to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is safe at its own without any assistance or protection from our police, elite force, rangers, frontier constabulary, intelligence agencies and military intelligence etc. What is the message-should Karachites quit their houses and live in graveyard? Who will answer such a burning question or for that matter solve the intriguing riddle and let Karachites also live in peace and tranquility?
