Frontier Post of today (Monday 30th January, 2012) posts its main news under the caption, ‘PM hints at polls after budget Govt to talk with opposition for consensus on 20th Amendment’ which is not only contrary to his earlier statements but that of his boss President Zardari too.
Who wants to quit and that too none but as PM of Pakistan? People at least in my beloved country, if not in other countries, not only try their best to complete their initial period but also go all out to drag on for as long time as possible and our history sheets do prove that some of the past leaders did succeed in extending their rule not for just few months but for years. How and why our present Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gialani could be an exception to the established practice to be honest? What, on the contra, could prompt him to very much surprisingly announce to pack up some months earlier than the stipulated period? No denying the fact that the present national assembly has been elected in March 2008 for a period of five years which, as such, will be expiring in March, 2013 and not before. However, for one reason or the other, for quite many months it is being aired by different quarters that the present government of Pakistan People Party has failed in delivering what had been expected of it and hence it must leave but our rulers did not even think even for a second to abandon earlier than completing five years term.
Am I wrong to construe that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani is not leaving the throne as one may think of from the above announcement but yet he hinted just to cool down the temperature so that he rules till July without any opposition and once the budget is passed there will be more than one reasons to continue as PM till March 2013?
