General elections on Oct 18: Wassan
KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan has said that general elections would be held on 18th of October this year, Geo News reported.
This he said on the occasion of rejoining the party by former general secretary PPP Sindh Nafees Siddiqui here.
Wassan said some people want early elections but no one desires end of the democratic system.
What a combination-General election & Wassam?
None but Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan said that next general elections will be held in Pakistan on 18th October, 2012 as reported by Geo news. The news has raised many questions which must be answered if the news is not a new joke with my compatriots. How comes neither President nor Prime Minister or for that matter Information Minister announced it? What about government spokesman? Where is Babar Awan and Khursheed Shah who have always been found saying something on something irrespective of the fact whether the subject falls under their jurisdiction or not? Why PPPs spokesman is silent on it? Shouldn’t it be announced by Election Commission of Pakistan? Manzoor Wassan is not only a provincial minister but that also dealing with home affairs which is about maintaining law and order in the province and as such it has no relevance whatsoever so far as elections are concerned.
None from our power corridor has till now commented on the news gives an impression as if it is not what the government has decided and perhaps Wassan has just spoken at his own and if so then he must be taken to task and not just left loose. He has not just said about October but also mentioned that the elections will be held on 18th which as such gives it extra strength and credibility. Am I wrong in my assumption, perhaps not?
