My Qs to Dr Tahir Qadri
At the outset I must pronounce quite emphatically without any reluctance and or reservation that I am not at all affiliated with any political party whatsoever so I am purely a neutral person with no personal interest as to who comes in or goes off but being a Pakistani and having obtained MA from Political Science Department, Punjab University, Lahore in 1966 I must pen my candid opinion based on facts and thus I am to pose few questions to learned Dr Tahir. Incidentally it was 2005 when one day my television went off the air and I did not feel any urgency to get it repaired or buy a new tv and I was without it for almost six weeks but then Ramazan came so I bought a new tv primarily to watch his live sermon on 27th Ramazan itself proves that I do keep him in high esteem so far as his Islamic teachings are concerned and I will say on my honor that only me but my wife and daughter too listen to his religious sermons as and when time permits simply because mashallah he has undoubtedly very vast knowledge on Islam which not many can boast alike.
After absenting for few years surprisingly Dr Tahir Qadir returned a few days back only as purely self imposed politician and addressed a big crowd at Yadgar e Pakistan, Lahore wherein he declared and demanded that under all circumstances it is a pre-requisite that come what may electoral reforms must be carried out in the country before new elections are held next year. He also gave an ultimatum that if nothing is done by the government in connection with electoral reforms then he will lead a mass rally of millions from Lahore to Islamabad to let President Zardari and his junta realize that Dr Tahir did not joke but was very serious when announced that electoral reforms must be carried out prior to conduction of forthcoming national assembly and provincial assembly elections. He has also said that he is damn serious on political reforms and none should have doubts that he will bulge even a fraction of an inch from his this instance hence it ought to be taken up quite seriously as he is trying to prove steel man of Pakistan.
Let me say in a bit light mood if not annoying that Dr who is internationally known theologian and not a politician at all suddenly and very much surprisingly jumped into the political arena believing that he will shake the incumbent government or even force it to bow down before him in connection with the reforms what he wants otherwise perhaps sky will split apart. Air Marshal ® Asghar Khan who is still one of the finest C-in-C of Pakistan Air Force ever owned by PAF gambled with his reputation and respect and formed a political party and came on roads boarding a truck as if he and his party will sweep in election and hence he will elevate himself to be the Chief Executive of the country. As an individual Air Marshal had an inborn right to become whatever he wants to be but the question is there are always certain peculiar and specialized basic requirements for every position howsoever lower or higher it may be so from that angle Air Marshal terribly lacked to be successful politician and hence he tasted very humiliating defeat in the election where perhaps neither he nor his any nominee got elected. However, it is an admitted fact that Air Marshal did pull big crowds whichever city or town he had gone but the result was zero so next time he did not try his luck. Coming back to Dr I will very politely advise him if not warn that he must very judiciously assess himself as to where does he stand against those who are either seasoned politicians or have spent many long years going from city to towns if not door to door. Has Dr got so much so the guts to snatch voters from other camps and bring them to his camp which is not that easy in any case I can say on my honor? Is he willingly putting his respect at stake in the political arena? Whom he will face when if he is defeated and left with no alternative but to swallows bitter quinine? Will it not be prudent on his part not to jeopardize his respect and honor gained over after putting in his all energies for many decades?
I have few questions but no question is just for question rather in fact they are very much relevant and intriguing questions which he must answer categorically. First of all now when he has acquired Canadian nationality in addition to Pakistani my question is that being a human like me it is quite but natural that his loyalty is divided between Canada and Pakistan hence he simply cannot be that loyal to Pakistan even if he wishes alike. A machine is completely different from a human because for example if you have a television or radio then the moment you click to Canada then you will see or hear nothing but Canadian programs but when the same television or radio is switched over to Pakistan then the same machine will give you nothing but Pakistani programs but alas it is not so with any human whatsoever including Dr Tahir himself. Therefore, at this present time he is barred to talk of Pakistan politics unless and until he renounces Canadian citizenship and retains Pakistani only. Now when his loyalty is divided between the two countries so how can he be equally faithful to both the countries hence if he surrenders Canadian citizenship then as a Pakistani he can talk about our politics and not otherwise.
My second question is about funding which he clarified at television interview with Najam Sethi which luckily I have watched saying that Minhaj ul Quran which is an international organization with branches in over 70 countries or even more has given him funds to embark upon this political activity which is not appealing to be honest for certain cogent reasons. He made his entry in all these countries as an Islamic preacher and people gave him whatever for preaching Islam but it is unfair on his part to ask his followers and devotees to pay for his political ambitions. Let me bring in litmus test to clarify as to he succeeded in maneuvering his followers. Say Mr ABC paid him some money towards Minhaj ul Quran account for preaching Islam which is quite noble gesture on the part of Mr ABC and none can even raise his eyebrows what to talk of objecting but if Dr has told Mr ABC that some time later he will either use this money for his political hunger or he will ask additional money for the same purpose I have my serious doubts that all those who paid him money will agree 100% to dish out their money for fulfilling his political ambitions.
Thirdly I have read his recent statement of today saying that if his followers want him to be care-take Prime Minister he will agree to be appointed as such means that he is aspiring to be none but PM. This is very smart move on his part where he is saying very categorically that he as Dr Tahir is not at all ambitious to be elevated as high as PM but yet he is agreeing to become PM simply because his followers want him to be so and therefore he had to bow before the wishes of his followers. Each time when there is an election most of the contestants say that I never wanted to contest the election but my friends forced me to contest and thus I filed my candidature to just honor my such like friends. Is it so with you also Dr Tahir?
I will sum up by quoting a proverb saying, ‘Power makes corrupt and absolute power makes absolute corrupt’ hence when you become PM you will get not power but absolute power which in turn will plague you to become absolute corrupt and therefore I as your true and sincere well wisher wish that Dr Tahir you in your greater interest should not be corrupt.
