SLAMABAD: Senator Mian Raza Rabbani of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has declined to accept a post in the federal cabinet because he does not want to be administered oath by President Pervez Musharraf. Rabbani has informed PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari that he could not take oath of a minister if the same was administered by a retired general. To Musharraf's bad luck, those who had been dubbed by him as looters and plunderers during the last eight years, are forming governments at the centre and in the provinces, pushing him into a corner amid mounting pressure to call it a day. Rabbani, even when Benazir Bhutto was alive, was opposed to the idea of talks with a dictator. He, however, never violated the party discipline and is known for speaking his mind within the party. Though Rabbani is so far the lone voice in the PPP to have refused to take oath from Musharraf, there are quite a few in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) not ready to join the federal cabinet for the same reason. Two top PML-N leaders "” Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan "” have also declined to become members of the cabinet in case Musharraf administers oath. Khwaja Asif, according to one source, is also opposed to the idea."”Internews http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=210031&version=1&template_id=41&parent_id=23
