WANA/PESHAWAR: At least five people were killed and several others injured when three missiles fired by suspected US drone struck a vehicle in the South Waziristan Agency, according to locals and private television channels on Thursday.
The channels reported that the missiles were fired by the CIA-operated US drones from Afghanistan in Lamman, area of Karikot in Wana out of which a missile hit a vehicle, killing five people and injuring others.
Officials also confirmed that at least five people lost their lives in the strikes. The death toll may rise as some injured were in critical conditions. According to the locals, huge bang of various blasts were heard in Lamman area. However it could not be ascertained immediately how many people lost their lives in the attack. The blasts were heard in area of several kilometres and caused panic among the locals. Some eyewitnesses have expressed fear of death at large scale.
Relief activities have been started in the area, according to the channels. It is merit mentioning here that four people were killed in the US drone attack in the same area some days ago.
