CONGRATULATION!, MR. PERVAIZ KHAN MNA FROM SWABI, YOUR PROPHECY PROVED TRUTHFUL ABOUT ZARDARI-NAWAZ RELATIONS

            Dear Sir, whether you remember or not but I still remember that you had discussed in a programme on PTV with Israr Ahmad Kasana some months ago, the matter of the appeal of the Federal Government against the Judgment of the Lahore High Court and had expressed apprehension about the withdrawal of the support in case of no understanding between the Zardari and Nawaz and had suggest that the Federal Government should not withdraw support to the appeal.

            Today, your apprehension proved truthful and Zardari withdrew his support in the Supreme Court through the arguments of the Attorney General. The Federation had filed appeals in the apex Court against the disqualification of PML-N chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and had challenged the June 24 Lahore High Court (LHC) order to set up an election tribunal to decide the eligibility of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. First AG submitted that the proposer and the seconder of PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif could become parties to the case if the court permits them. Then he submitted that the Punjab chief secretary and the speaker were not party to the case. The manner in which the Federal Government dealt the matter clearly sent a message to the people in general and intellectuals in particular that the ways of both the parties are now separate.

            It is a fact that Sharif Brothers did not appeal to the Supreme Court and this is a point against them by not obeying the directions of law that only an �aggrieved person� can go to the Court. Only an aggrieved person has locus standi to present his case before a Court. It also duplicity in Sharif Brothers that on one side they do not accept the authority of the Judges of the Courts on the other hand they had allowed their proposer and seconder to approach the Court, why?

            Actually, what the people resent against Zardari or Federal Government is the change in the behaviour. If the appeals were of such nature, that they were not maintainable before the Supreme Court then why the Attorney General remained silent so far. It means that he was waiting for guidance from �someone� that if the matter failed to settle according to wishes then such and such arguments be presented. Both the PPP and PML-N have mixed up the legal and political issues and are trying to deceive the people. In this case of disqualification, the Court has absolutely shown impartiality. When I being an immature student of Law know that only an aggrieved person can go to the Court then why the learned Counsels did not comprehend this point. Non-joinder of Chief Secretary, Punjab and Speaker of Punjab Assembly in the original appeal is also a legal point. When a person has not been joined how he can give application to the Court about a matter. But the political point is that why Attorney General did not objected the matter at the outset of the proceedings. He struck the axe at the time when the people had heard the remarks of the Judges and inferred from those remarks that disqualification is eminent. It is a bad tradition that on one side, we go to the Court and on other hand we use political expediency and at the end put the whole responsibility on the Court. A Judge decides a case according to the law and the facts of the case before him. It is a tragedy that we put every matter to Court without knowing fully the pros and cons of the matter. It was the responsibility of the Counsels of the appellants to give them advice according to the law that the actual aggrieved persons are entitled to get relief from the Court but they instituted the case without fulfilling their responsibility.

            Both the parties are sufficiently confused over their future existence in the politics. The somersaults of PML-N and PPP are such which may convey them to deep ditches. Making of relations by the PML-N with MQM and PML-Q at a time when it has also coalition with PPP is nothing but their political immaturity. Actually, they have no patience and no guts for the struggle in adverse situations. Sharif Brothers not only by-passed every legal course in 1999 and went Saudi Arab and remained there till the election 2008 but also wanted to get everything not through the Courts but through such tactics which may not mar their political image. There is no disgrace in this fact that a person should go to the Court and seek his remedy of the grievance. It is another matter whether the Court may give him relief or not. It is the duty of every citizen to knock the door of the Court.

            My suggestion to the Sharif Brothers is that they should win the hearts of the people by remaining calm and sober. Whether Zardari or somebody else has done right or wrong, Sharif Brothers should remain resolute. They should not destabilize the situations nor do they have any right to play with the peace and calm of the people. When I say that people are the best judges then let the people to decide who played fair game and who has played foul game. Sharif Brothers should conduct elections in their own party and organize the scattered workers and members. Let the members choose their own leaders at all levels for themselves. When today they are disqualified, tomorrow they will be on their posts of their choices. But patience and fortitude is the only condition. Those who have bitterly faced failure in 2008 election shall triumphantly in the next elections. Only such Members of the Assemblies shall be successful in the next elections who have won the hearts of the people. The rest of the persons shall perish in oblivion.

            Nawaz should be flexible like other leaders. But gaining this qualification he will have to come down from his present behaviour. He will have to select his own line action instead of supporting either the Lawyers or others. People will automatically get around him, when they realized that in future he will not leave them and go to Saudi Arab. Those leaders who leave their workers and supporters in the turbulent situations or in any crisis cannot get full support even of their nearest people. A leader is only leader when he is among his people when any leader fled he has no right to leadership. One reality is clear about Zardari that he remained steadfast and finally his wife used such political tactics that General Musharraf himself went to Dubai and settled the matter.

            Today, only Nawaz is against Musharraf while almost all the political parties have no enmity against him. Neither Nawaz can become so powerful to harm Musharraf nor any one will allow him to do that. As far as the violation of the Constitution is concerned,  it has been used as a political slogan as when it is said that Parliament will be sovereign. It was the far sightedness of the General Musharraf when he, finality left the scene for others to play the rest of the game.

            Nawaz should learn lesson from the past and should chalk out a more pragmatic plan for the future. Confrontation is no solution to the matter. Learn lesson of non-violence and conciliation from the leaders of ANP who won over the hearts of the people of Swat once again by peace agreements, although, the ANP has given a great sacrifice in shape of the martyrdom of its local leaders but still they did not made it a matter of ego and did not acted upon the policy of vengeance which finally brought fruit. The whole credit goes to the ANP leaders who controlled the situations affecting the whole of the Country.   

            It is the extreme limit of the political opportunism that a party remains an ally at one place and adversary at another place. In such situations he can neither sincerely play the role of a partner in the Government nor can play the role of Opposition. Such like experience we have seen in the past when JUI-F was ally with PML-Q in Baluchistan and was in opposition in the Federal Government. In such situations, responsibility cannot be fixed on anyone for any failure nor can credit be given for any good policy. Mr. Aetizaz Ahsan is in such situations, on one side he is a PPP leader and on other side he is with Mr. Iftikhar Chauhdry.

            At present, the Political Parties should act according their mandate given by the people and should not indulge in such activities which may render them disputed in the eyes of those who have voted them. They should serve the people according to the available resources and authority whatever the situations may be. The ultimate decision would be given by the people in the next election which will set in motion the future role everyone. Adopt the policy of wait and see but with this intention, that if anyone violated the law for his own illegal gains he will be brought to the Courts for accountability without any fear or favour.
