No festivities and cake cutting on

: A section of the Press has reported that the PPP organizations will celebrate the birthday of Co-Chairman Mr. Asif Ali Zardari later this month by organizing festivities and cutting cakes.

Secretary General of the Party Jehangir Badar has in a statement today stated that the President and the Co-Chairman of the Party has already issued directions that no festivities and no cutting of cakes will be held on his birthday.

Jehangir Badar said that on the occasion prayers will be offered for the country, the Party and the Co-Chairman. The gatherings and functions held by Party organizations within the country and abroad will reiterate their commitment to democracy, and the Party’s principles and manifesto, he said.

Jehangir Badar said that instructions to this effect have already been issued to all organizations of the Party within the country and abroad.

He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhuttos birthday this year was also celebrated in this manner.
