Musharraf claim that Shaheed Mohtarma wanted him as President ridiculed

Islamabad July 25, 2009: Musharraf's claim that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto wanted him to continue as President is wishful thinking of a disgraced dictator who has been shunted out of the Presidency in full public view and who is now seeking a measure of public support to escape the fate that awaits all dictators", said spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar.

Former military dictator in an interview to an Indian channel claimed that if Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was alive he would still be the President because she wanted him to continue as such.

In a rejoinder Farhatullah Babar said that Musharraf's assertion has proved Mohtarma Bhutto's prophetic prediction made during an interview in the last months of her life that, "a day will come when Musharraf will beg for my pictures to sustain himself".

Farhatullah Babar who has also been spokesperson to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for nearly two decades said that what Mohtarma Bhutto thought of the dictator is graphically described in her two books namely "Daughter of the East" and "Reconciliation" and in innumerable interviews.

Musharraf should read her books and the remarks she publicly made about him in the interviews. He must stand erect on his own feet and face the consequences of his misdeeds rather than seeking shelter behind the name and pictures of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto whom he chased and hounded when in power as all tin pot dictators do to the leaders of the masses, he said.

"It should be remembered that while he was still holding the coercive apparatus of the state in his hands the PPP first hooted down Musharraf in all the provincial assemblies and the national parliament through unanimous resolutions and then actually booting him out of the President House in full public view".

Musharraf has only ridiculed himself by asserting that the leader and Chairperson of the Party that hooted and booted him out, wanted him to continue as the President of the country, Farhatullah Babar said.

It is not the act of a commando; it is the act of those who have feet of clay.

But then such is the fate of dictators and despots who fall not only from the citadel of power but also in the eyes of the people, he said.
