Garhi Khuda Bakhsh: Addressing the 33rd anniversary function of the Pakistan Peoples Party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on Wednesday, President Asif Ali Zardari said that history needs to be corrected, DawnNews reported.
President Zardari said he wanted to do a lot more for the country but it was difficult to progress until the correction of history.
Criticising the judiciary the Co-Chairman of the PPP said that the judiciary needed two decades to take up the hearing of the Asghar Khan case where as the hearing for the Rental Power Case, which provides electricity to the poor, is taken up hastily.
According to the president the judiciary feels pain over the provision of electricity to the people of Garhi Khuda Baksh but the judiciary feels nothing about the injustices that took place on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
According to the co-chairman of the PPP, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is being punished not for his loyalty to the president rather for his efforts to emancipate southern Punjab from the clutches of the rulers of Lahore.
President Zardari said that he has a collection of friends, whom his party had embraced according to the policy of reconciliation of their slain party leader Benazir Bhutto.
The President said that the government faced various challenges in four years but he has a plan to counter every challenge.
Moreover, President Zardari also said that the coming elections would be most transparent and fair and that he has no objection to people joining the PPP from other political parties, nor does he object to people leaving his party the same way.

Is President inviting contempt of court?
Asif Ali Zardari, President while attending 33rd death anniversary of late Zulfiqar AlI Bhutto has said that Supreme Court of Pakistan took long 20 years to take up the
case filed by Air Marshal (R) Asghar Khan about distribution of money to people to win elections whereas SC took hasty decision to punish those who are involved in Rental Power Plants (RPPs). In principle I agree with President because time wise he is very right to say that Asghar case should not have taken so long but it does not mean that if one case is delayed so other cases should also be delayed accordingly. I am sure that none on the face of earth will cross or object me when I say that one mistake does not justify next mistake. The principle of equity demands that justice be done at the earliest so from that angle SC has acted very judiciously in settling RPP case and it is a sheer bad luck that a few blue eyed people including ministers of PPP are being punished which course Zardari did not like and has criticized SC.
I do not wish but at the same time there could be possibility that SC takes notice as to what President has said and who knows may be he too is issued contempt of court.
