Pride or Privilege

Privilege is a word less familiar with the masses. It cannot be really considered good fortune or mercy from god. It rather isolates most and hardly can be the cause of any fame or publicity but still I see people assuming joy from their privilege more and ignoring their real Pride and joy!

For most Pakistanis Urdu is our Pride while English is a Privilege for some!

The above statement may be true in most cases but not all Privileged Pakistanis are Prideful.

One big Personality among the Privileged Pakistanis is Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto. Oxford Graduate Leader of not an English Political Party but the biggest Privileged Party of Pakistan that associates itself with not the exceptionally Privileged of the Pakistanis but the most under Privileged who require rooti, kapra aur makan and a lot of Urdu before any English.

Muhtarma is a face that television cannot help but capture though I think the Pakistani Broadcasting service that has nothing to do with any ones face but their language avoids. These days Muhtarma is telecasted more than ever whether in person or impersonation we are made to not just watch her but oh my god listen to her also, and that too in Urdu not in her Prideful Privileged English.

Some of us who have moved away from our nation and people may be under privileged in Urdu for that reason but I know so many and in little ways my self have worked hard to preserve some Pride with us. I fail to understand the reasons for Muhtarma's lack of effort in maintaining not just a personal pride in the national language but the nations Pride in her excellence as a walking talking Pakistani.

Her Urdu is not just a minor case of simplicity but an outrageous case of shame. I know Pakistanis who have not seen the sight of any form of schooling but will speak Urdu in a Prideful manner.

This is my ardent request to the Multi Billionare BB Muhtarma next time please see that we remain glued listening to your interview on the television just as we would for Perveen Shaker, Tariq Aziz or recently Shahid Masood. Perhaps these are too big names from among those who can't help but put all their passions into what they are delivering and the nation is captivated by their sincere words. At least the nation deserves some privileges also from the most privileged of the Pakistanis of this era!  Even your own Father tried but BB you daughter of the nation please have some pride in its language also"¦ and spend some time and money (now that you've got it all released) on learning and speaking Urdu Pridefully Perfect!

Now we can't even excuse you over some disability like Chaudhri Shuja'at who is by now (I hope) well aware of the pangs he generates on to the nation over his mumbling fumbling.

But BB you are most ambitious and take on the screen like a charging tigress but your continuous grammatical and gender mishaps along with the use of obscene jargon reflects that you did not trespass any of the great schools or scholars of Urdu but so focused were you on OXFORD.

Then why choose Pakistan where we above all want to see our leaders championing not just our values but our Pride and Joy Urdu too!

Another thing if you haven't noticed, we all entitle you with the most respectful Urdu term "˜Muhtarma' this privilege you will not find in any other country or language you embrace!

                     One of only 3 languages remaining written from divine right to left

                     Greatest number of letters that help express all kinds of sounds and imitate all kinds

                     of languages along with their tonalities.

                     Most Modern scholarly and Islamic religious text is available in Urdu

                     Most poetic compositions and lyrics are written in Urdu not just in Pakistan but even

                     in India.

Dear BB Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto Sahibah, the nation is waiting for you to deliver your sincere conviction of Pride in all things Pakistan, the Lawyers, Journalists, Politicians and the People expecting for their "˜Muhtarma' to once and for all quit Oxford and its dictates and embrace the National Alliance for Justice for All Pakistanis.

Come Forth and make yourself the Pride and Joy of the Nation of Pakistan!

You will not touch any solid shores if cruising in two boats"¦"¦"¦..it is time to chose Pride or Privilege?
