VIP culture in Kuwait vs VIP culture
in Pakistan. I am as patriotic Pakistani as anyone else can boast of whether
living in my beloved Pakistan or overseas like me but at the same time I simply
cannot help pronouncing that our VIPs are not real VIPs to be honest which I
have expressed many times and has even been published in my letters in
Pakistan. However, briefly I will just compare the two countries so that those
who do not know much about Kuwait are in a better position to know who is who.
(1) Kuwait official name is State of Kuwait whereas our official name is
Islamic Republic of Pakistan (2) Kuwaitis are just about 40% only in the
population of Kuwait where 60% are expatriates like me whereas in Pakistan 95%
population must be of Pakistanis only (3) Amir of Kuwait is Head of the State
while President is our Head of the State (4) Kuwaiti Amir is always
from the ruling Al Sabah family and his term ends at his death only whereas our
President belongs to the party which has majority in National Assembly and his
tenure is limited (5) May be it is not believed in Pakistan that Amir sits with
the driver whereas his car is without Kuwait flag (6) Amir and the general
public keeps on driving without any disruption because there is just road concrete
blocks in between the roads therefore VVIP passes on the right hand of the road
while general public including me on keeps on driving on left hand side. (7) Police does stop all the traffic on that
side of the road from where Amir passes which is not more than 30 minutes in
any case whereas in my beloved Pakistan as low as Chief Minister demands and
commands that the whole city be paralyzed at least for 2 hours if not more when
he wants to come on roads. (7) Logically speaking Amir should be afraid of being
attacked because expatriates are 60% in Kuwait but on the contra very much
surprisingly our VIPs are afraid of none but their own voters who are around
95% in any case. (8) Late Amir of Kuwait H. H. Sheikh Jabar Al Ahmad Al Sabah
after his death has been named as Amir ul Qaloob (Amir of Hearts) whereas in
Pakistan or rulers are even imprisoned what to talk of being scolded (9) Four
times I have attended condolences when either Amir alone was already sitting in
the room where people including me sat or Amir came in my presence but in both
situations Amir came all alone without any police and protocol. (10) Just
yesterday Wednesday 17th September very junior official namely Qaim
Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Minister visited Sukkur where a donkey rider was beaten
black and blue simply because his donkey cart was found on the road side from
where CM had to pass through. (11) Go Nawaz Go is being shouted again and again
against our incumbent Prime Minister and that too right on his face when he
visited flooded areas. (12) I very solemnly say on my honor that in entire
Kuwait history not even one what to talk of groups has ever even thought of
what to talk of shouting Go, Go itself proves the difference between Kuwait and
Pakistan. Please keep your right hand on your heart before you answer me as to
who is real VIP and where? Iqbal Hadi Zaidi / Former Diplomat / Kuwait /
