Ms Sherry Rehman ,Minister for Information and Broadcasting has proceeded to the United Kingdom on a three-day visit to address a forum hosted by Oxford Union.The Oxford Union has invited her to this prestigious forum to speak on the reasons behind the under-representation of women in politics under the title "Where Are All The Women?"
Oxford Union enjoys a reputation as the world's oldest and most famous student debating society. Throughout its 180 year history, Oxford Union has regularly hosted high-profile international figures to discuss contemporary and controversial issues.
Ms Rehman will have the honour to be added to the long list of pre-eminent speakers who have visited this prestigious society.
Distinguished names of the past guests include Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed ,Mother Theresa,the Dalai Lama,Ronald Reagan,Richard Nixon,Jimmy Carter,Desmond Tutu and Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth of England to name but a few.
Ms Rehman will answer questions of the members at the end of her speech. Selection of Ms Sherry Rehman to represent Asia at the forum is yet recognition of her services for democracy and women rights.
All her travel and boarding expenses for the trip are borne by herself, as this invitation is related to her position in the PPP. The chairperson of the PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be present at the event.
