Logs, pot, broth, and lid by Dr Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub Created On: 5/Feb/2012 Views: 1970 Replies: 2
Consider the following items - logs, pot, broth and lid. Logs as fuel, pot to hold the broth and lid to stop the spill over of boiling broth. Now, think of Pakistan and take the logs to be the public; the pot as the democratic system; the broth as composed of the judiciary, legislation and executive, and the lid as the armed forces. Was AAZ trapped by Hamid Mir? by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 11/Jan/2012 Views:1727 Replies:0
In the famous interview, Hamid Mir very cleverly trapped AAZ by letting him admit that he (AAZ) was not going to accept Supreme Court's verdicts while the cases of Memogate and NRO were still pending. Whoever persuaded AAZ to appear with the talk show host did not do him a favour. Hamid Mir is known to come up with twisted questions or surprise actions which though seem innocent and friendly turn Click here to read Full Article

Acid rain for AAZ by Dr Ghayur Ayub

Imran Khan is clever. He took the two major issues - corruption and injustice, wrapped them in the slogan 'Tsunami' and tossed them into the court of the emotive Pakistani youth. The frustrated youth gave him a resounding response. The political waves created by his Tsunami spread panic among his opposition. Zardari called it 'Zunami'. He most probably wanted to say 'Zuma'ani' (double meaning) but Click here to read Full Article

In his affidavit sent to Asma Jahangir, Gen Jim Jones wrote, “Mr.Ijaz mentioned that he had a message from the ‘highest authority in the Pakistan government' which he asked me to relay to then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen," It means he accepts that memo was from the 'highest authority' in Pakistan and that authority in terms of protocol is the president. Did Aitezaz Ahsan challenge AAZ? by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 28/Dec/2011 Views:1657 Replies:0
A lot of people would agree that AAZ made a mistake asking Aitezaz Ahsan to speak especially after he abruptly ended his controversial address at Naudero. Taking advantage of the occasion Aitezaz Ahsan knowingly or unknowingly attacked AAZ on two counts in his lawyerly style of oratory flow. He isolating AAZ from the mission which BB took when she left Abu Dhabi and then damped AAZ's claim of comp Click here to read Full Article
The talk show anchors by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 20/Dec/2011 Views:1954 Replies:0
The electronic media in Pakistan built rapidly from one TV channel in 2006 to about 40 in 2011. In this rapid progress the TV talk shows became the focus of public interest surpassing entertainment programs. The fast growth did not give time to the proprietors of the channels to train the TV anchors professionally in the race of ratings and financial gains. As a result today we find three types of Click here to read Full Article

Asif Ali Zardari; what now. by Dr Ghayur Ayub

In my article of October, 2009 titled, 'Mental health disorder: its legal manipulations,' I wrote “Dementia (meaning "deprived of mind") is part of mental health disorder. It is a serious cognitive condition which is chronic in progression and usually irreversible in nature. It affects areas related to memory, attention, language and problem solving; the outlook of which depends on the cause. For Click here to read Full Article
Is the issue between the government and the army? by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 20/Nov/2011 Views:1924 Replies:0
Some political analysts with American links are trying to portray as if the Memo issue is been highlighted to create a wedge between the Zardari-led government and the army. This is not true. The real issue is that someone within the government apparatus invited a foreign country to invade Pakistan demolishing its nuclear assets, ISI, and nuclear controlling authority-the army. Now the big questio Click here to read Full Article

Change of chairs by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 17/Nov/2011 Views:1854 Replies:0
When President Asif Zardari gives audience at the President House, he let the dignitary take the chair on his left side. This protocol was reversed in one-on-one meeting with Gen Kayani. He let the army chief sit where he usually sits. The picture of Benazir Bhutto on the side-table did not point to the negative of the photograph being reversed by mistake. Was it a benign error, a bad omen or a me Click here to read Full Article
Corrupt cricketers and political fallout by Dr. Ghayur Ayub
Posted By: Ghayyur_Ayub On: 7/Nov/2011 Views:1679 Replies:0
The aggressive public response supporting the decision of Southwark Crown Court against the corrupt cricketers shows, it will have a political fallout in the public court of Pakistan when corruption cases are brought against individual corrupt politicians. This realization was projected aptly in a public gathering at Lahore casting the first stone for a change. Click here to read Full Article
