UK Lawyers condemn Terrorist attacks on ‘Data Darbar’ Lahore and welcome the announcement of a National conference on the subject of ‘increasing violence’

APL (Association of Pakistani Lawyers), a team of Pakistani origin lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, and Judges in UK jointly has condemned terrorist attacks at Lahore based shrine of ‘Data Darbar’ on 2 July and  sought a stern action against those outlawed elements in the state.

APL confirmed that sufi saint ‘Hon. Ali Hajveri’ known as Data Sahib is a symbol of love, affection and the true picture of peaceful teaching of Islam which invited many millions in the continent and spread Islam to the nook and corner of Punjab and many millions irrespective of their colour and creed and sectarian affiliation attended the shrine and paid homage at some point of their lives all across the country. Attack on such shrine is a conspiracy against humanity and culprits cannot be Muslims by any means, and APL condemns in the strongest terms such suicidal attacks which are creating mayhem in the society.

APL observed that as this is part of a series of attacks in recent weeks especially in Lahore and surrounding areas begs the need of a collective policy and joint intelligence share and Governmental and community cooperation if we wish to defeat the menace of latest wave of terrorism and increasing extremism, and APL welcomed the announcement of former premier Nawaz Sharif and current chief Executive Mr. Gillani’s resolve to hold a national conference on the subject. That conference will give a chance to review the results of previous joint resolution of Parliament, rate of drone attacks and its legality and cause and effect of increasing violence and extremism led suicidal attacks in urban cities of Pakistan. APL observed that security policy needs a quick review with new operational changes to apprehend the criminals before the crimes are committed.

APL has expressed their condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and sympathies for those who are injured and has urged the Federal as well as Provincial Govt to do the needful to compensate them befittingly.
