Relics of Bab ul Islam mosque built by Muhammad bin Qasim at Rohri – Some facts

The aim of this article does not mean to repeat historical events regarding conquest of Muhammad Bin Qasim but to explain some reasons why this most historical mosque has been neglected by Pakistani rulers.
Thanks to Mr. Kamran Shahid, the anchor of Front Line who did an exceptional service by representing an outstanding program on September 18, 2010 and captured video images of the ruins of that famous mosque known as Bab ul Islam mosque. He appealed to authorities to look into matter and rebuild the mosque. (Refer “Front Line”, dated: 18-09-10)
Rohri is famous Railway junction and situated on left bank of river Indus, whereas on other bank famous city of Sukkur made them twin cities and linked through well-known Ayub Bridge. Recently Ali Van got popularity during floods and controversy of breaching Bund. Ali Van is a village that always submerges during floods and another famous Hindu shrine Sadhu Bela is also situated in same area.
Arore is a historical place in the north side of Rohri and bears significant importance in Islamic and Sub continent’s history. Muhammad bin Qasim defeated Raja Dahir at Arore and later constructed a mosque under reference. You would have seen many articles on first Mosque in sub continent and many scholars provided available details to readers, particularly the Daily Jang published more than a dozen articles written by different scholars. And according to research first mosque was constructed by famous companion of holy Prophet at Kirala that is still a Jumma Mosque and populated in south India.
Muslims used many routes to settle in India mostly through Muslim merchants, but by means of regular army and with the permission of Muslim Caliph, it was the first expedition towards sub-continent which met with success and foundation of Muslim rule was kept on this part of world. So importance of Muhammad bin Qasim’s victory requires no research like we need in Mosque at Kirala and presence of Bab ul Islam mosque is well documented and known since its construction. According to current local administration one Khateeb is on pay role to lead prayers but mosque is practically a heap of mud and dust and no water or praying Musallas are provided. A few devotees usually dare to pray occasionally as no transport is available to reach that mosque.   
Those were glorious days of Islam under Ommiad Caliphate and campaign for Sindh under Muhammad bin Qasim was launched during the same period as the conquest of Spain and Kabul etc. Omayyad’s expanded borders of first Muslim state of Madina Munawarra towards different corners of the world under command of its famous general Hujjaj bin Yousuf.
In spite of well recognized services of Muhammad bin Qasim for establishment of first Muslim state in current Pakistan, who also provided opportunity for Muslims to spread Islam without fear in this area and establish a base for creation of current Pakistan, why is he always a subject of bullying by different quarters? Ibn Qasim met with unfortunate incidences in his life and his tragic death is part of that. We have witnessed many politicians in current Pakistan by bashing him with harsh words and declaring Raja Dahir as their hero. All anti-Pakistan groups leave no chance to bash Ibn Qasim by hook by crook. Sufi G M Syed of Sindh and communist Bacha Khan Group are among a few examples who declare Raja Dahir as their hero.
Role of Mawali’s against Bani Ommiyad in Sindh-Multan area
Due to rapid expansion of Islamic state under rule of Bani Omayyad and the peoples of those areas who converted to Islam bears responsibility to rejoin Islamic forces and take part in expeditions along with Islamic armies, some of them deserted and took refuge with rulers of Sindh areas. Same peoples are called Mawali's in history and some of the descendents of those persons still claim to be Muwali in Sindh and Southern Punjab areas.
Later those were mixed with locals and adopted Ismailia or Kisania faith and in spite of passing hundreds of years that mentality is still in existence and large power circles in Pakistan and today’s Sufism is modern form delivering hate against Bani Ommayad and proudly claim to be Moulai or Sufi’s.
Brief historical Prospect:
Conflict was endemic among the frontier Muslims, with a considerable number seeking refuge with the king of Sindh. The period also experienced an intensification of the rivalry between Arab conquerors and the Mawali; new non-Arab converts; who were usually allied with Hajjaj's political opponents and thus were frequently forced to participate in the Jihads on the frontier - such as Kabul, Sindh and Transoxania.
Through conquest, the Omayyad intended to protect its maritime interest, while also cutting off refuge for fleeing rebel chieftains as well as Sindhi military support to the Sassanid rump state; akin to those received at several prior major battles during the their conquest of Persia - such as those at Salasal and Qadisiyyah and the finally at the Battle of Rasil. An actual push into the region had been out of favor as an Arab policy since the time of the Hazrat Umar (RA), who upon receipt of reports of it being an inhospitable and poor land had stopped further expeditionary ventures into the region.
“Mawali” were amalgamated with anti-Omayyad activities of the Kisania Shia sect.
Under the Abbasid rulers of the 9th century, the Mawali comprised an important part of the army. The fragmentation of the Abbasid around 900 AD took place with the Mawali rise to power. Abu Muslim Khorasani the patron of establishment of Abbasid dynasty was follower of Kisaniya faith. Kisaniya were Shia and follower of Nafs Zakkia (differed from current Athna Asari Shia faith).
However in the same time period religion was polluted with sectarianism and a long line of Sufi’s who in 99.99 % cases originated from Faras, Iran or Ajam cleverly divided the Muslims bearing Mawali doctrines or anti-Bani Omayyad thoughts and spread fundamental Shia doctrines. Rise of different Ismailia factions like Qaramti and Fatimis were result of that thoughts. If you may have a look on list of great Sufi saints so all of those have surname with any Iranian city. Gailan, Hajveer, Marvand, Tabrez and Faras type last names shows country of origin of all Sufi saints and that is Iran, Faras or Ajam.
The propaganda and fundamental slogans against Bani Ommayad introduced by Abbasids to take control of Islamic Government later took so dangerous turn after killing of even unborn children of Bani Ommayad, digging out graves and hanging skeletons on road sides, suffocating sons and daughters of Bani Ommayad’s prince and princesses in rugs, later Abbasids had to turn back to Shia faith to stop anarchic and preparation of new sects on the basis of hate against Bani Ommayad.
So, Bani Abbas or Abbasids after gaining power denied Shia doctrines and claimed to be real heirs of Islamic Government being descendents of Hazrat Abbas bin Mutallib, the real blood uncle of Holy Prophet. But a lot of water had already passed through bridges and lot of pockets of new monstrous sectarian groups were emerged in Islamic society right from China to Spain. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jaillani counted 32 major Shia factions operating at that time.
Role of Mowali’s in current Pakistan:
After departure of Muhammad bin Qasim and establishment of Islamic state in Sindh and Multan areas, the same areas were invaded and ruled by Ismailia’s.
Ismailia’s failed to grip their rule and later merged in local population along with their religious thoughts. A joint venture of Kisania and Ismailia faith was thrown to grass roots; there was no distinction to follow which part of Sufi teachings. (1. See foot note)
Majority of current Makhdoom’s, Shibzada’s, Pir’s and Sufi’s of Sub-continent are polluted with Kisania and Ismailia basic beliefs. In question why current Sufism is opposing to Athna Ashari Shia popular faith? Than look into early history of Mowali peoples and Kisania sect, the leader of Shia Kisania sect was quiet opposed to Athna Ashari basic believes of Imamat, he claimed to be descendent of Muhammad bin Hanfia, one of the sons of Hazrat Ali (RA). Zaidia, Ismailia’s and many other non-Athna Ashari sects had same type of claims.
I am trying to explain history with great care by not hurting sentiments of anyone but history is very cruel and did not care sacredness of anyone. At Multan and Sindh areas still some great saints are descendents of those Ismailia’s, and many known Mullah’s are also their descendents and claim to be Sunni. If you may conduct a survey than half of the population of Pakistan claims to be direct descendents of Holy Prophet. Out of those 10-15% claims to be descendents of Muhammad bin Hanfia (Imam of Kisania sect) and named them Awan (helpers), Alvi, Alawi, Malik (Kings) or Shah.
Ruined Bab ul Islam or Muhammad bin Qasim mosque at Arore (Rohri Sindh):    
Mr. Kamran Shahid bravely visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh and represented video images of mausoleum of Benazir in the same program comparing lack of interest of Government of Pakistan with most historical Islamic monument that created basis of existing Pakistan state. And in the same program anyone can witness images of superstitious peoples practically prostrating and worshiping Bhutto family graves.
Government of Pakistan is spending billions of dollars on construction of mausoleums around the country by putting hand in the pockets of hungry and naked peoples of Pakistan. The wave of throwing money was boasted by Benazir and at least one billion on Bhutto’s mausoleum was spent, during her era Federal Rural Ministry worked hard to allocate funds for construction of mausoleums on the graves of ancestors of politicians.
Then a race of construction of mausoleums was started, Shahbaz Qalandar with gold plated dome through multi billion project. In Sindh and Southern Punjab billions were wasted on rebuilding of graves. Mian Nawaz Shariff and company in competition spent billion dollars on Data darbar grave.
Some notable poets were also declared as saints and their graves were also eating away millions. In fact poetry of many is based on sex and use feminine gender in poetry, whereas Sufi’s say that female character like Heer, Sassi, Laila, Sohni and Shireen etc. represents God. In support of that type of sexy poetry Mullahs started parody of movie songs from loudspeakers of mosques, and same rhythms and lyrics of love songs have been labelled as “Naat”, by defaming holy name of Naat.
Liberal fascists and athiests are running a campaign to exclude name of Muhammad bin Qasim from history books and time to time their target is his personality and usually claims to be Raja Dahir their hero. Last month Haji Adeel of ANP bashed Ibn Qasim, GM Syed group is known for bashing and issuing venomous statements against Muhammad bin Qasim. Former is flag bearer of Pakhtonistan and later patron of Sindhu Desh. All Mawalis, moulais, drug addict Sufi’s, communists, pro-prostitution quarters who are in fact admirers of Raja Dahir being husband of his own sister.
Conclusion:
Rebuilding of 1400 years old mosque is a death of anti-Pakistan elements who are preaching since long that Pakistan is not an Islamic state. The Mullahs who believe that Jihad is un-Islamic term and deny existence of any of verse in Quran that defines Jihad are also against revival of Babul Islam mosque.
It is also shame for champions of Islam and sole contractors of Muslim Ummah. There are dozens of mosques and schools on the name of Muhammad bin Qasim around the globe. Being Muslim and residents of so called Islamic state it is duty of every citizen to support Mr. Kamran Shaid for inviting attention of everyone on forgotten part of first ever monument of Islam on the land of current Pakistan.
We request all leaders in power to immediately allocate funds for population of Muhammad bin Qasim mosque without any delay. Media is also requested to pressurise Government to look into matter without fail.
