Attack on Judiciary will be an attack on Democracy, APL
(APL) Association of Pakistani origin Solicitors, Barristers, Judges and ex pat members in a joint declaration has termed any attempt to weaken the pro active judiciary as an attack on democracy.
APL observed that Lawyers will not accept any attempt to remove judges at Executive’s will without due process of law as outlined in the article 209 of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973.
Government is surrounded by opportunists who are advising a clash with the bench and these alleged acts akin to 3 November 2007 emergency will be seen as an act of subversion of the constitution under article 6 of the 1973 Constitution, observed APL.
APL further demanded the Pakistani premier to make a bold decision to implement the orders of the SC on NRO to discourage corruption in any form or shape in the society, and promote rule of law by respecti8ng judicial decisions.
