APL condemns efforts to burn Quran and those who think of it

APL Chair condemned such intentions and termed it unacceptable as it will escalate intolerance and demands action from the UK home secretary to bring parity in her decision making process.

APL (Association of Pakistani Lawyers), a team of Pakistani origin lawyers, Solicitors, Barristers, and Judges in UK has condemned burning Quran incident and conspiracies and has demanded action from the UK home Secretary Theresa May as burning Quran will cause the hurt to billions of human souls around the world, and UK Govt. must own the responsibility and come up to the task at hand as expected & required in Terry Jones case to bring parity with that of Dr Zakkar Naik.Terry Jones must only be allowed to enter if guarantees are in place that he will mind his own business and will not defile and attempt to desecrate the religious scriptures  and or insult Islam, and Muslims. If such guarantees are not in place, he must be excluded from Great Britain as is the case in other preachers.

APL reminded the UK Home Secretary Theresa May that Muslims need to be assured that anyone coming to UK use this soil to advance their political aims and ideology in a legitimate, peaceful and democratic manner and Home Secretary must ensure parity in her decision making process, where Muslim outfits were banned straightaway and English outfit is allowed to let loose to unleash terror risking community relations. Dr Zakkar Naik is banned but all other(s) like Gareth Wilder are coming to UK to lecture 2 million Muslims about their own religion which is unacceptable, unreasonable and uncalled for. In December 2010 a girl was not charged for allegedly burning Quran, which must not be made as an example to follow in coming days and sets a wrong message for communities who are picking pieces to live together post 9/11 and 7/7 in UK and United States.

APL further requested those who desire to defile and desecrate the religious scriptures must go on one step further and read those Qurans instead of burning them as for centuries that book is a source of inspiration, guidance and welfare for the mankind and it gives the true message of tolerance, social welfare and rights and responsibilities of individuals and communities in any society.

APL Chair termed that difference of opinion and interpretation of religious verses can be different but the original divine message cannot be wrong or against the humanity.

APL further expressed anguish at careless statements and urged the communities to remain calm and use their right to protest in a maximum peaceful manner and discourage any attempts to use or stir violence even in their speeches.

APL pointed out that OIC must take notice and revisit their efforts to canvass Islamic countries to put joint diplomatic pressure on the attempts to burn Quran and consider setting up a body to reach out to the Western world to bridge the gap. APL observed that if a joint attempt to ‘give and take’ policy is not adopted, a chain of uncalled events may emerge from within these intolerant events of burning Quran or banning mosques & raising minarets or banning Hijab which will be regrettable but will be disastrous to the efforts of bringing the unity in this global village.

APL is raising this issue with British Prime Minister David Cameron to convey Muslim community feelings about the issue
