A story goes like this:
A village chieftain got a pond dug in the middle of the village, and ordered all village people to put atleast one bucketful of milk each, so that in the next morning the pond would be full of milk. People did their job whole through the night.
In the morning when the chieftain came to the pond, he saw that the pond was full of water instead of milk. He called all the villagemen and ask as to why the pond was full of water instead of milk. A villageman unasumingly replied that, he thought others would be puting milk, so if he put only a bucket of water, thinking that it won't make any difference. So was the thinking of the others. Eventually the pond was full of water instead of milk !
The same is the situation with us. Every one of us thinks that, the others would be doing their dints, so why to bother. It is enough for us to see the things from a safe distance. We expect that, the lawyers, the media, some political parties and personage, and even the Court would do everything for us, and should only get the results.
A civil society cannot work like this. So there would always be unscrupulous elements like vested interest people and army generals calling the shot and enlarging their tummies. The 'civil society' and their representative civic bodies should be there to exert pressure and get the jobs rightfully done, of course without violance.
Now was the time for the people to come and gather on to the streets, when the jugglers of the power were hell bent for self-aggrandisement . Not necessarily, people should gather on startegic points due to which law and order situation could create. Instead, people might gather on any safe place, but gather in large number. The number is important not the place. But unfortunately, everyone of us is standing with a small bucket of water in our hand.
