I am a great fan of yours and i have not missed a single of your article  for a long time.But here is an article which initially mesmerized me and then after some research extremely disappointed me.

You gave some crime stats in Denmark, in your column dated 24 dec 2004, in express newspaper. Initially i was immensly amazed by them as you mentioned that there is only one murder in the last 50 years and that too by an asian.

 

You wrote that the number of sexual assaults and rape is so low that the very words are becoming extinct. I was thrilled.

 

Then you wrote that one could not even think of theft, robbery and burglary.Shops remain open,banks are without guards,in shopping centres only counter boys are visible.Now i was simply flabbergasted.

 

I could not even think that an intellectual and journalist of your calibre would write anything without confirming it.But one of my friends was a bit shaky in accepting your statistics.So to prove him wrong i searched the net.But to his joy and my grief all that i found were statistics that only confuted your exagerated claims.

 

My source is Seventh United Nations Survey of Crime Trends and Operations of Criminal Justice Systems, covering the period 1998 - 2000 (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Centre for International Crime Prevention); and UN International Crime Victims' Survey.
