MALALA, A
CIA AGENT?
‘Malala
is just a puppet being controlled by the US’… ‘Who survives a Taliban attack?
She must be a CIA agent!’
I am a Pakistani who has been deeply
saddened by these words and greatly disappointed by our nation’s reaction to
‘Malala Day’. Who was Malala? No, she was definitely not a CIA agent or a puppet;
she is an education activist, living at that time, in the Northern Areas of
Pakistan. She was working for women rights, particularly that of acquiring
education.
It was 9th October, 2012 when she
was shot in the head and neck for the reason of going to school, in critical
condition she was taken to UK for a brain surgery which was successful. On
being given the honor of making a speech in the UN and being nominated for the
Nobel Peace Prize the Pakistani nation reacted by saying things like ‘America
is giving her unneeded attention’, ‘So what if she got a bullet in her head? That’s
no reason to get a Nobel Prize for’ ‘She ruined the image of Pakistan in the
whole world’ and ‘We had Arfa Karim and Abdul Sattar Edhi, why not them and why
Malala?’.
My dearest Pakistanis, do you even
realize what you’re saying? Malala is the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace
Prize award and her being Pakistani makes her a representative of Pakistan. This
is a great honor for our country, she got shot but the whole nation got credit
for it. Every single person in the conference stood up to clap for Malala as
she ended her speech. All of you who think that she ruined our country’s image
should become aware that ‘every girl who wants education is killed’ was not
what she portrayed to the world; it was her talent, her incredible capabilities
and her stupendous bravery that were exhibited in the UN conference to which
she got a thundering applause.
Coming to other talents of our
country; Abdul Sattar Edhi and Arfa Karim who were openly compared to Malala
giving the hint that she was not as brilliant as they were or vice versa.
Firstly, I would like to share to those who don’t know facts, Abdul Sattar Edhi
has been recommended for the Nobel Peace Prize by the Pakistani government.
Arfa Karim, the youngest Microsoft specialist has a science park in Lahore
named after her. Malala has received exaltation higher than any as we can see
because she is only sixteen and she threatened the Taliban in the way as they
had banned education for girls in her area but she strived to achieve her
dreams even if her life got in the way.
Conclusively, I would say Malala is a
true hero who has brought a great name to our country in whole of History. Being
a nation, we all should acknowledge this and honor her in a way she deserves.
