AMJAD MALIK WELCOMED ENCOURAGING REMARKS OF PM NAWAZ SHARIF OVER DUAL NATIONALITY & OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS

London 23 October 2013: Barrister Amjad Malik APL chairman and First Asian President of Rochdale Law Association congratulated Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for giving a bold statement about dual nationality and future status of overseas Pakistanis that he will end the discriminatory legislation barring them to take part in Pakistan’s affairs. We welcome that statement.

Malik said that I will personally call on the Pakistani premier and will present ways how to improve bilateral relations between both communities and a new vision statement and charter is required to enhance our relationship , performance and productivity. Overseas Pakistanis needs to be given a new vision where this relationship will be turned into a partnership than a one way love affair where rights bestowed  will carry responsibilities.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement at this juncture is a mile stone to set a new tone towards Pakistan’s mindset and policy towards 8 million overseas souls and like a fresh air where a new policy is the need of time where Pakistan will protect the lives, property and life savings of overseas Pakistanis and in return they will invest in their homeland and improve the conditions in schools, & invest in energy sector and take goods of Pakistani traders to all the European markets as commercial ambassadors.

Barrister Amjad Malik agreed to work jointly with the Government of Pakistan for the betterment of Pakistan and host society and develop ways to benefit the overseas community and raise awareness for overseas Pakistanis rights to vote and honourable repatriation  via representation at the forums which matter the most and increase business activity and leave no stone unturned to ensure security of their lives & property from land mafia.
